How can you folks *not* have a "The Walking Dead" thread? There just have to be some fans among the posters. Even if we are few, those of us who are TWD fans need a little spot on the site to call our own as we have fun with Season Six.

If you're not a TWD fan, it's ok. We'll forgive you. You're more than welcome to come along as we discuss one of our favorite shows. All I ask is that you don't try to ruin the fun for other people. If you don't like the show, that's cool. Just don't go messing with those of us who do.

Since I'm creating this thread, I'm going to ask for a favor. I'm glad to have people participate on it but please keep the 'spoiler' factor in mind. Please avoid putting spoilers in the first few lines of anything you post. We don't want to ruin any episode for other folks who haven't had the chance to see it yet because text in the first few lines appears on the scroll. Thank you.

OK, so die hard fans have seen the season six premiere by now. I have to admit, it wasn't what I expected. I'd have been just as good to see what happened at the 'community meeting' in the moments following Rick shooting porch dick. Instead, we got the quarry and some time jumping in black and white. (A first for TWD.) We're seeing some changes we didn't expect and those will be fun to explore during the season.

What did you think of the season six opener? Are you glued to your seat? What are your TWD thoughts? Is TWD fun for you?

Now that you've mentioned it, we DO need a TWD thread here!
I enjoyed the 90-minute season opener. I thought the color/BW shift to was a great way to indicate a time jump.
If you're not watching Chris Hardwick's after-show party "The Talking Dead" you are cheating yourself out of some great insights into the characters and how the show is made.

Minor rants:
Why has nobody in the TWD universe thought to use firecrackers to attract/distract the walkers? They're easily thrown far enough away to help in your escape.
Why not work on sealing-off the quarry rather than lead a herd of 1,000+ walkers out - and possibly into great trouble...?
The group has FINALLY learned to use walkie-talkies - just not very well. What, they could only find 2 or 3?!

Oh, I love The Talking Dead! I especially love the 'how it's made' segments.

The season opener annoyed me! It is more than possible that I just wasn't in the right frame of mind (aka I wasn't paying attention lol) but I had trouble following the timeline and jumps between the b/w and color moments.

I was also hoping it was Gabriel blowing the horn simply because it would have amused me to holler that it was... Gabriel blowing the horn.

Unless it has been a long running character, I'm awful with names so apologies in advance when I go with a description instead!

The woman that Carol stuffed into the armory with a gun, I kept waiting for her to accidently kill a good person.

Carl, oh Carl how I hate your little Bieber haircut.

Is the newish girl/kid a Wolf? When did she show up?? (probably one of those moments I wasn't paying attention eh)

Quiet newcomer, friend of Ricks.. black dude with the staff. He said he Carol didn't like killing but I'm not so sure. Yes I think it is something she regrets but I also think she is pretty dang quick to off someone in her way or someone she perceives as a threat.

I like Eugene. He amuses me with his Elvis hair.

Just a reminder for the scroll. It's unavoidable for this thread not to have spoilers of the most recent episode, so if you haven't watched whatever aired last, this thread might not be for you. I'm not trying to discourage participation. I just don't want the show ruined for you.

For camille, I think it is harder to catch the names of all the new Alexandrians. I spent a good amount of time during last night's "JSS" episode trying to place (and recall the name) Spencer. I think it was Denise that Carol shoved in the closet. (Good call because it probably saved the shovee's butt.) The guy with the staff is Morgan, the very first 'survivor' that Rick came across after the turn. Enid is the girl's name and she's been seen in a few episodes now.

I'm actually with you on Carl's hair. I think they leave it like that because of the big deal they made all the way back in season one in "Tell it to the Frogs". On the other hand, Carol seems to have the slowest growing hair on the planet. Check her's out compared to Maggie's.

OK, I'll stop with the beauty tips.

"JSS" was pretty amazing. What happens when most of the people who know how to defend themselves are outside of the walls when a few dozen Wolves come a callin'? It was a slaughter! Thank Goodness for Rambo Carol 2.0 (or 6.2, whichever you prefer). Single-handedly, she took out more Wolves than I could keep count and I loved the instant wardrobe. How smart was it of her to paint a "W" on her forehead in blood?

Morgan is a serious badass with that stick and Carl still knows how to shoot people. Jessie grew a set with that pair of scissors. Gabriel probably should have been dead but got his skin saved again. The only credit I'll give Deanna is that she's smart enough to recognize that she didn't know how to fight. Aaron did pretty well.

All that carnage and we didn't lose any major characters. Holly's dead, one of the ring-leaders of the Wolves is dead, and the running gag about the pasta maker is over because she's dead, too. (That bit was getting old.) That false sense of security is gone now. The Wolves will be back.

Edited. Somehow, single-handedly turned into single-highhandedly.

I double checked the 'spoiler' sticky for this section. If I'm reading it right, anything within two weeks of it's original debut date is still considered a spoiler. We're asked not to have any spoiler material within the few lines that will appear on the scroll.

With that out of the way...

Holy crap! It's almost hard to talk about episode three. (Not that it stops me.)

Easy stuff first. I don't care if Nicolas was trying to reform. Don't care that he's dead. His death didn't matter to me.

The other little Alexandrian characters that Michonne was trying to lead back? Wasn't terribly concerned about them, either. People who were always behind the walls? I do tend to give them a little slack because they don't really know what they are facing. David doesn't get that grace. I did feel bad for the note not getting back to his wife. I'd have probably tried to grab it if I could have managed it.

This part is spoiler within the spoiler thread and it's about Glenn. My heart sank seeing Nicolas' body take Glenn down with him. I don't think I've reacted to the show like that since The Governor chopped Hershel's head. (Up until now, Hershel's death was the one that has bothered me most in the show.)

I won't post links or do any things that people don't want to see but there is a lot of fan talk and articles out there about reasons why people don't think he's dead. When I saw the episode, I said dead. Now, after seeing some of the stuff that's out there, I'm kind of on the fence.

I've just read/watched a couple of those fan talk items. All I'll say is - yes, plausible - and I hope they're right!

And I also I hope that, this season, they'll all find somewhere where they can take *regular showers*.

Binge watching this show is awesome. The only problem is then it gets very hard to wait a whole week at a time when it's current.

Doing the filler for the scroll thing. Sometimes, it's hard to come up with those first few lines so nothing is given away at the top.

Oh, if you think you're pissed now...

With so much buzz about is he dead or not, I went searching for articles yesterday. Scott Gimple did one that just made me want to call him a dick. He did say one thing that made me want to cut him a little slack that came from way back during season three.

If they are playing dead/not dead with us, it's not the first time! After a few more expletives about what they are putting us through, I had to concede that he was right. Also during the interview, the point was brought up very specifically that we (the fans) are really just watching a movie right now. Driving the point home that we've only seen it halfway through.

Dick, dick, dick, dick, DICK!

What sucks is, I really don't think we're going to get our answer next week. "Here's not here" is supposed to be focused on Morgan's backstory.

I have one question about TWD.

Have you ever seen one of those gas powered weedeaters with a circular saw blade instead of string that is used on heavy brush?

I'll just let you TWD fans use your imagination.
