Man spreading for example. Please tell us all with evidence how the whole manspreading thing was not created by feminists?

What the heck is 'manspreading'?

It's blokes opening their legs wide when they sit down on tube trains and the like. It's a massive issue that's going to bring civilisation to its knees. All feminists hate it, whether they've heard of it or not.

Thank you for the explanation, Peon.

Funny that I first encountered that term not by feminists ranting about it, but by a man ranting about feminists ranting about it.

So thank you, respectmen, for pointing out what I should be railing against. I might have never known if you hadn't enlightened me.

You obviously don't realize the magnitude of the threat that manspreading presents. As far as I know, the problem was first brought light by the not-Feminists at Jezebel back in 2012.

Fuck You, Dudes ~Jezebel

As the seriousness of the issue came to be appreciated (if that's the word I want) the government finally stepped in...

MTA Launches Campaign to Stop Manspreading ~CBS New York
First Arrests for Manspreading ~ABC News

Whew, what a relief. Close call, that one.

Why is that question even relevant? It's very simple to answer. A feminist is someone who is a part of the feminism movement. Feminism is the said movement.

Classical example of very over-simplified: circular reasoning.

Hey, if we have gotten him started to reason on ANY level, it shows that he has the potential for growth. Another few decades or so and we might get him out of the self-loathing stage. Well, that might be a bit too optimistic for Poor Little Nicky, but one can hope [;)]

dcnovice -> RE: The Man-Shaming Project (10/23/2015 8:25:21 PM)

In fairness to the folks at Jezebel, they did preface the piece with an incredibly candid disclaimer: "This is Fuck You Week, Jezebel's first annual week of desperate emotional cleansing and unhinged psychic purging."

Having stood on Metro trains with one hand clutching a post and the other gripping my cane while trying to muster the energy to breathe, let alone confront someone for a seat, I understand how one might become unhinged over manspreading--or the equally irksome habit of blithely giving one's bag its own seat while others are standing. Fortunately, I've largely, if expensively, been able to avoid public transit during my medical misadventures, for which I'm deeply grateful, especially now that there's an oxygen tank involved. But many don't share my good fortune. Sad to say, the stories of the old woman and the young mother standing while the hale and hearty sprawl ring entirely too true.

Aylee -> RE: The Man-Shaming Project (10/23/2015 8:33:53 PM)

Drat, I worked with men today and I totally forgot to shame them. Am I going to lose my feminist card? Do I have to toss my, "This is what a Feminist Looks Like" T-shirt?

dcnovice -> RE: The Man-Shaming Project (10/23/2015 8:40:52 PM)

It's Friday, so we'll be lenient.

Just don't let it happen again.

Lucylastic -> RE: The Man-Shaming Project (10/23/2015 10:29:52 PM)

I really must turn in my feminist regalia too...for not paying attention.
oh dear.

respectmen -> RE: The Man-Shaming Project (10/23/2015 10:46:53 PM)

Aylee and lucy...well that's two feminists who I rarely see that is against "teach men not to rape", teach men not to be DV fanatics in general, teach boys as young as two to not see women as objects, shame male sexuality in general, blame patriarchy (any ill in the world is because of male dominated society), shaming men for their privileges while ignoring your own, the list goes on and on.

sexyred1 -> RE: The Man-Shaming Project (10/23/2015 11:01:28 PM)

Interesting. I always felt that man spreading or women spreading on crowded public transportation was just indicative of being a selfish ass, rather than making a political statement.

I've come to the sad conclusion that an incredible number of people simply do not realize that there are other people in the world as well.

That certainly rings true for feminists. How about women taking up more space? Oh forget about that lol.

Well it makes a cops job easier.

Spread 'em!!!!

All you wimminfolk iz terrible. Us poor, unloved male critters.

The Systematic Degenitalization of the sub-human Male is now complete.

Begin phase two in which Feminists extract the semen from prime specimens and utilize the procedures we have in place for invitro self-fertilization.

Training will now begin at conception to ensure the South will never rise again.

Have a glass of water, deary. It's muy importante! The depth of this conspiracy is beyond the scope of mere male imagination so do as you're told and you can have a nap later.

(It's always about the water. You should believe that if nothing else.)

And ladies? I know I don't have to tell you this but.. it's time for the strap-ons to come out and take their rightful place in Society.

I have it on good authority that the new Supreme Court that we have waiting in the wings will approve strap-ons as 'people, too' and the power to vote is sure to quickly follow.

I just figured that the men were clumsily trying to aspire to dominance, while the women were indicating they wanted me.

What?

Even if feminist organisations/groups do it, it's still not feminism. Therefore, it can't be defined as "feminism".

... so you have a definition of feminism ... why not share it with us?

As I said, what feminists do is what feminism is. Either the good or bad. I bet you have no problem claiming it's "feminism" when women got granted the right to vote. People only seem to have a problem of claiming something is feminism when its from something negative.
