ORIGINAL: respectmen Dreamlady, so voting rights for women have nothing to do with feminism? Rightio. Plenty of feminists/SJWs out there will bring up voting rights to claim the good of feminism when the conversation demands it. I will expect what I say next to go completely over your head. I don't care what debate team says what. It's a matter of simple statistical economics, which actually ties back into addressing the social imbalance that ensued with the emancipation of the slaves, in the eyes of white male Heads of Households. Here is the sequence of events. Pre-Emancipation: Adult white males have the right to vote. Emancipation: Suddenly black males have a voice in the voting process. This leaves out adult females entirely. Adult white females outnumber the adult minority (black) populace. Who stood the MOST to gain, by "giving" ALL women the right the vote? It was the white male HOHs, who pompously believed that they could sway their wives and adult female dependents to vote "their" way. That, my fellow, is the only reason that the suffragette movement ultimately succeeded, despite vehement opposition at its inception. As in much of life, Follow The Money (e.g., who stands to gain).
