LadyPact -> RE: What do senders do that they can so quickly POUNCE on juicy profiles? (10/29/2015 5:26:24 PM)

ORIGINAL: crumpets The question I wanted to answer was the ratio of spontaneous contacts, from two exact profiles, one male and one female, over a short period of time. I don't know if you can answer that question, unless you had two exact same profiles; but I'd certainly be very glad to have your insight. MP and I have never had the exact profile. I will tell you that for my first six months or so on the site, I had profile text that said, "I'll fill this out later." That was it. The profile pic that I posted was the one of me in blue. quote:
I was going to try the same experiment with gay and lesbian exact profiles; and with bisexual and heterosexual couples; and lastly with middle-aged men and women. No. Just no. quote:
I was curious what the differences would be. If you already have the information, then you can let me know - as I take data in by a lot of methods. When taking date via unscrupulous methods, your findings are unethical. You already know that. quote:
I agree with you that the pouncers were sending the profile messages from the middle of nowhere to a thousand miles away from the middle of nowhere, even though the profile was in the middle of NYC. Several thousand, thank you. quote:
There's no way any human can adequately handle even the volume of mail that arose from the moment the profile was created to the time that I removed it. A bulk mail filter would be a necessity, as would a filter for deleting any messages from further than about 25 miles away. Not exactly. Over the last seven (?) years or so, I've done a lot of presenting gigs. So far, I've presented in eight different states. That 25 mile thing doesn't apply. quote:
I have been here a long time (under various guises) but I don't get the volume of mail that you get! I got more when I was younger and prettier. Here, for example, is my mail, which, if I do a rough average, is one or two mails a day. [image]http://i67.tinypic.com/28cms92.jpg[/image] One or two mails a day is manageable, especially since there are fewer than a half dozen people I converse with in a given month (or so). Of course, the pouncers leave "me" alone! I couldn't possibly handle my mail if I got the rate that the test profile just received. I don't know how any of you can, without draconian filtering. Try being out there. quote:
That's about the ratio I'm seeing. It's at least 100 to 1, male to female. We'll see what the couples and homosexual profiles get in the first hour as compared to the middle-aged profiles. I'm middle aged, married, overweight, etc, etc, etc. I understand. I glanced at the pictures that folks sent, for example, and one guy took the profile picture and turned it into a beautifully photoshopped creation. He offered to photoshop anything I wanted. So, I guess, having been pounced upon, I could take advantage of all the "free stuff" offered - but that wasn't my goal. I don't do "free stuff". quote:
I made this profile NYC, which is decidedly not quiet. However, I don't think even one person was from NY, let alone NYC, after the alotted hour was up. So, I don't know if the location matters (I mean, guys from India were sending me horrible pictures with the assumption, somehow, that the girl would be interested). (What are they thinking?) Turn me loose in NYC for 48 hours. I'll raise 16 kinds of hell. quote:
Yes. You really can't keep up. Especially from the pouncers. Of course, I'd expect (from past experience) that the pouncers will lesson appreciably with time (exponentially perhaps?), but, I had not run an exact duplicate profile before, with the only change being the sex of the profileee. I need to run three more to complete the experiment though. No, you don't. Stop that.
