I agree. The zip code thing is only mentioned explicitly when you first create a US profile.
Then you never see it again unless you click on the "My Account" button.
Actually, I once used this happenstance to my gain.

There was a woman I was interested in, whom I wanted to contact me, but I couldn't figure out, even after reading her profile, what to say (I'm amazingly too shy sometimes, surprisingly perhaps to some, when it comes to APPROACHING women).

Sure, I read the entire profile. Every last word (as I always do). I read the journal. I looked for forum posts. I reverse searched the picture to find the Google+ profile and did a Spokeo search on that to find other profiles. All the normal stuff I did. But, I still didn't have anything to say to her that didn't sound stupid. (Bear in mind, her profiles were often in a language which I google translated to be most likely of an Indonesian origin, so, I was a bit out of my league, having only been to Indonesia once before).

Knowing the first shot is often the only one, what I then did was change my zip code to be closer to her. It only took a few iterations before I was 1 mile away from her section of town, which is close enough for government work. So now I knew the specific subsection of the town, the eateries, and, most importantly, the upcoming events in that specific locale, which allowed me to make a move that (a) didn't sound stupid, and (b) that worked for me (rest of long story omitted).

Of course, that zip-code-location trick only works if she puts her real zip code in that profile field.

EDIT: BTW, to the guys out there reading this for hints, almost always the ladies you look up on Spokeo have Pandora profiles. Make sure you PUT ALL THEIR SONGS on your iPod (or whatever you play in your car when you pick them up!). It's hard to explain, but it works wonders if she believes whatever you have to tell her as to why you seem to know all her favorite songs before you've even met! :)

But, assuming an animal did have the capacity to ask a question of a human, it would be so obvious to me what it's like to climb a tree but I could understand that a fish might not have the perspective.

But, the fact that I am male precludes my brain from knowing, inherently anyway, what you experience simply being female.

In fact, I often wonder why animals don't get sick when they eat their own poop.

I'd certainly be sick in a second; but, some animals (rabbits, for example) relish the juicy portions of the stuff.
It turns out there is a very good reason for that behavior.
But, you'd have to ask the question first, before you'd look up why.

My point is that you can't understand ANYTHING if you don't ask obvious questions about it.

Sometimes you ask questions where you THINK you know the answer, but, it turns out, you don't (happens all the time with me, witness the femdomme deviant art thread, for example).
The answer from women is almost always different than the answer from men.
And, if this isn't already abundantly obvious to everyone already, I'm enamored by women; I'm fascintated by women. I think of women all the time (I think of "pleasing them" actually, but, let's not quibble here).

I constantly want to know HOW women think. WHAT women think. WHY women think that way.
I don't think "I" am normal. I'm sure I'm not unique. But, I don't think most men care enough or want to know enough about women.

While I do have other interests, on this forum, my ENTIRE FOCUS is on how women work inside.
Hence, the questions.

Well, I'm just turning out to be sixteen shades of idiot today. I should have thought it was Alt to begin with. I was on there years ago but I don't think I've logged in since 2008 at best. Where I was in AK, the community was kind of small but a decent enough sample size to be about right. (Rough percentage of folks who go to events and those who do all of their stuff privately.) Made perfect sense once you mentioned it.

However, after all of this time, I did click one, got taken to Alt, and found a surprise. The main page IS people in my location. Again, because I know some of them.

I can't speak for the age group. I can tell you how it works in mine. Forum participation actually makes it go up. Relocating makes it go up, even though I'm not new. Attendance at a club, it goes up. If I present? That's the biggest spike, especially if it's a public club or a con. Traveling out of my area to non local places comes in a close second.

Again, your contribution to the overall knowledge level of this thread is impressive.

What I love is that you probably are one who COMPLAINS that men just try to send you form letters, or don't read the profile, or don't listen to your requests in the profile.
Yet, when someone reads your profile, reads your journal, complies with the request of the profile, asks you out on a date where the venue is a local community event, and plays songs that you enjoy, you abhor him.

Do you realize that would make no sense?

I feel sorry for the genuine men. before women pounce on me a genuine man life online is a lonely existance. As a quick experiment, I put my profile at zip code 99999 and then ran a variety of searches for people within 25 miles.
Surprisingly, not a single search found anything, so, while the CS profile allows a zip code of 99999, the CS search engine is disallowing 99999 as a searchable place.
I presume that I won't show up in someone else's location search now that I'm of zip code 99999, which can be a useful technique to take advantage of in the future.

BTW, as noted, ALL the banner ads go to alt.com. I can see this visually since I have alt.com in my hosts file when I use my normal browser.
However, when using Tor, it bypasses my machine altogether, so, it uses the hosts file of the exit node, which allows connections to alt.com to proceed, hence I can only see the banner ad when using Tor.

Clicking on the actual faked photo, for the first time, I seem to go to a location-specific Adult Friend Finder site, which, first went to a page showing scores of ladies in Amsterdam, then ladies in Renne, then ladies in Zurich, etc.

Not one hit was of the profile depicted in the Alt.com banner ad.
The Javascript that seems to rotate these faked ads is, appropriately enough, called "photoChange", as in http://cdn.collarspace.com/js/photoChangeNS.js

What happens if you click on that banner ad, and then click again and again (three or four times)?

Since I'm on a proxy, I guess, and from Europe at the moment, I guess, here's what I get a list of people from (none of which are the person depicted in the Pop6.com ad, where "pop6.com" is the same domain as "friendfinder.com".
1. First click = alt.com " Search Results – Women looking to get laid near Luxembourg "
2. Second click = adultfriendfinder.com "Search results in Sweden"

    I don't put a "gender spin" on my questions in the automotive forum.

    This is a gender-related forum.
    If you haven't noticed, I'm male and heterosexual.
    If I was bisexual, then a gender spin might be unneeded.
    But, this site is useless (to me) without the opportunity to better understand the OTHER gender.

    My young nephew asked why the sky is blue and once we answered him, he had no further need to badger anyone.     It's a kink thing. It's a sexual orientation thing.

    Classic case in point: the femdom art thread.
    What trips people's switches is whatever they happen to like or dislike.
    That's a personal thing, completely UNrelated to gender.

    I think we found out long ago.
    I was naive when I had been pounced upon as a female.
    Remember,a couple of things.

    One is that the female had a half page of mails before the profile was even finished while I have a male profile which hasn't received a single mail since something like 2008 (although, for some strange reason, both DS and that sheet-of-cookies-with-brown-nipples profile visited the page at one point or another).

    For that female, there was a mail roughly every other minute for an hour. Sometimes multiple mails from the same person. All this happened in just one hour, but the astounding part was that the mails flowed in literally from the very second that the profile was created.

    So, I assumed there were automated programs, bots if you will, who had javascript extensions or some other automatic email activity.
    For example, nobody has said that new users get announced to folks email (and since I almost always use a faked email, I wouldn't know if they were).

    But, the answer seemed more mundane than at first wondered.
    The pouncers just sit there. They lie in wait. They hit a dozen buttons at a time, and they (for the most part, must) paste a form letter response.
    Some, of course, photoshopped my picture within the hour, so, they didn't do the form response (although their text that came with the photo was probably formed prior).

    That they offered to "have sex" with me in submissive poses in those photoshopped pictures was revealing (if men will have sex with a Walmart pony and someone's high heels, it's not that much of a stretch to be added as a sexual partner to photos, I guess).

    What I learned was a lot, and not just about how the pouncers pounce.
    For example, I learned more about those faked banner ads than I had known.
    And, I learned about predilections of men, that never occurred to me (it took two or three tries until someone got the jizzing-of-the-shoes into my feeble brain, for example).
    I learned a new trick that makes use of the 99999 zip code.
    And, I learned there are two types of people:
    a) Those who ask questions, and,
    b) Those who think they know all the answers already.
