DesFIP -> RE: What do senders do that they can so quickly POUNCE on juicy profiles? (10/29/2015 6:31:48 PM)

Any new female user pops up and he sends them a copy and paste email he wrote years ago. They don't read profiles. How long does it take to c & p 100 new users? Probably less than 10 seconds each. So 6 messages a minute, 360 sent in an hour.

But again, you've been told these stats innumerable times by women here, yet you don't believe us. Why did you have to make these fake profiles when you already knew what the results would be? Except that you think we're all liars. Why do you think that people who have no personal interest in you are lying? What do you think we get from manufacturing the lies you believe we say? What do you imagine our agenda is to lie about this?

Some were personal (based on what was said).
Others photoshopped "my" pics.
So, it's not all of them who are cutting and pasting.

I'm not sure what you're talking about.
I run experiments all day every day.

Yesterday I planted three sets of walnuts (Juglans nigra) and poured three different fluids on them. I'll watch them for a while to see which grow. My chestnut experiment is going well. I started it last November, and had to refrigerate the chestnuts until March to simulate winter, but now the ones in the well drained pot are growing far better than those in the soggy pot.

I have chemicals all over the house for experiments. I am constantly testing things on the computer, and writing reports. I'm all over the net, asking questions and answering them (usually dozens a day).

Today I tried parboiling the potato eights instead of soaking them in cold water overnight before frying them at 350 degrees for ten minutes. Tomorrow I may make a new flavor of ice cream (but never again will I put jellybeans inside - they become little rocks).

I put low-octane fuel in my high-octane specified car - and I watch what the piezoelectric knock sensors do in real time from a scanner at the OBD port. I hike a different path every single day in the woods, never going the same way twice (you'd be amazed at what I find, other than pot farmers and mountain lion kills).

The list could go on and on and on.

Since you seem to know so much, you must also run similar numbers of tests and experiments daily.

What again did you tell me, that I didn't believe?

Except that you think we're all liars.

Again, I have no idea what you're talking about.
For example, did you tell me people would offer to photoshop all my pictures in any pose that I wanted and they would put me in a submissive position in those pictures?

Where did you tell me such things?

What do you imagine our agenda is to lie about this?

I have no idea what you're talking about.

I experiment all day, every day.
In fact, I was cutting some Spanish Broom today, when I realized that all my previous efforts failed because I hadn't sprayed the cut stems with glyphosate (which prevents them from making proteins from aromatics). All the Spanish Broom I cut last year came back with a vengence, sprouting a million branches where I had cut below the lowest bud. So, clearly the experiment of mowing them with the lawn mower last year failed.

So, this year, I painstakingly cut them with branch clippers (which is a pain) and then sprayed the cut stems within minutes with glyphosate. All the Internet articles say you have to spray the glyphosate (aka "roundup" to you) within minutes, but both my experiments and those of the researchers show you have at least an hour. I have been experimenting with 100% solutions (which are actually only 40% glyphosate) and 50:50 solutions. It doesn't seem to matter which - they both seem to work (since glyphosate costs upwards of $75 per 2.5 gallons, it starts to matter because I have many acres to clear).

Point is, I run experiments all the time. Practically 100% of my day is experimenting. And I listen to one-minute physics, and Derek Muller of Veritasium, and physics girl, and John Green (Mr. Green, Mr. Green!), and all the youtubers who teach us about the world.

You sound sort of like the people that Derek interviews before his physics experiments.

In fact, this Veritasium video was made JUST FOR YOU!

LadyPact -> RE: What do senders do that they can so quickly POUNCE on juicy profiles? (10/29/2015 7:48:55 PM)

I don't have (what I think is) the banner ad on the right. What I do have are profile pics of supposedly "local" users that list as my current location, even though I met them in Alaska.

Are you asking if a comparable male would get the same attention?

What do people do that they can so extremely quickly POUNCE on juicy profiles?

As just a quick experiment contrasting merely the rate of unsolicited mails sent to a decent male & female profile on Collarspace, I created two profiles earlier this week, one male, and one female, both the same age, and the text of both profiles exactly the same (switching only gender).

Both profiles were deleted in just about an hour hour (the results were so astoundingly different, I didn't need to run the experiment any further).

As you'd (and I'd) expect, the male received zero mails.
I'm not sure what you'd expect, but, by the time the hour was up, the female was on the second page of mails, and they were still coming in fast when I killed the profile.

What surprised me was the huge volume (about a half page or more) of incoming mails that were there even before I completed filling out the profile. Basically, mails were already coming in without a single word written "in" the profile!

So, I ask some general questions to flesh out what is going on (some of which I know, but not all).
Q2: Is it simply that people habitually click the "new user" button a thousand times a day to send emails to each new user that quickly?
Q2: Or, do these respondents have automated programs that constantly notice ANY female posting of any sort?

And, to those females out there:
Q3: How can you possibly adequately handle the absolutely astounding volume of mails without spending 24/7 dealing with them?

Crumpets, in your case, you just discovered what all women and most men have figured out by the time they're 12 or 13; women are pursued....men pursue.

It's age old.

Here's one for you (and most men fall for it): I don't recall the website but, I signed up for one of those kink dating sites probably 5 years ago or so (I doubt it's significantly different on any dating site) and no less than 3 minutes passed (I hadn't written much on my profile...I'd literally been on the site long enough to come up with a catchy headline and click a few likes and dislikes...was gonna go back the next day and tell the world why I was such a fine catch)....and I had 3 responses....."you are EXACTLY the kind of man I'm looking for!!! Please write back to me (2 or 3 pictures...etc.)".....the next...."Oh my god! Your profile is PERFECT and....you're near me!....." blah blah blah......and others.....

I thought that was a bit odd....so, I went back and added to my profile:

"I love tripping old ladies in parks and watching them fall down. Last week I stole $100,000.00 from my Mom's retirement account and now she can't buy her blood pressure medicine".

3 more responses regards my being the perfect man and that I should contact these women abruptly.

So, I waited a few days....went in, talked about how much I respected Nazi's, etc. etc. etc.....as ugly as I could get....

"You are the kind of man I want to be with!!!!"

All bots.

All designed to get guys to let go of their wallets (and most do....because most think with their dick).

Don't you have enough 'test' profiles yet?

When I know everything, then I can stop! :)

Actually, one test I want to design is to see if ANYONE actually BELIEVES the fake banner ad profile that is to the top right of EVERY SINGLE time we look at our mail.
So, let me ask YOU a question, since I always come in using a proxy (and not my real IP address).

QUESTION FOR YOU:
When you see that banner ad at top right, does it say YOUR TOWN for the location of the fake profile?

For me, since I use a proxy, it doesn't say the town; but does it say the town for you?
[image]http://i67.tinypic.com/mmbdzc.jpg[/image]

Given this banner ad is always fake, I have two questions for others that I can't run an experiment on myself:
1. Does the banner ad always say YOUR TOWN (or does it say "proxy" for you, like it does for me)?
2. Why would anyone ever click on those fake ads? (Do they actually BELIEVE they are real?)

Crumpets.....NO ONE believes those girls live near you (or me).

No one.

I might ask the same of you, but I already know the answer. More questions about gender differences where patient posters answer you and you fail to understand anything.

I assume you are getting paid for all this "research and data mining".

Otherwise you and your fake profiles might have become the most annoying posters here.

And that's saying a lot.

Is it really a novel idea that men's and women's experiences here differ? Does all that exhaustive "research" need to be done to discover this fact? Why is everyone here giving that poster and this lame subject matter so much play?

amazing how many emails I get from people in various places of the world wanting to "serve me" and offering to come over to clean my house or my shoes...

That does amaze me how all the pouncers (every single one, at least in the very short period the profile was alive) were from "far away".
Obviously, they just pounce. Period.

But, can it possibly work for them?
It seems like an awful lot of work for a pitiful chance of gain.

Now it is just block and move on, but before I figured out, the pouncer would claim to be in my neck of the woods or coming into the area and could we meet up, which got to "let's get to know each other" and "tell me all about your shoes and send pics of you wearing it..." obviously so they could *prepare* better, exchanges shoes with other stuff and imagine requests for explicit pics as somebody told them I am really a guy (can't imagine any woman falling for that lame old one), they want wank fodder, simple as that.

Hmmm... .. that is VERY interesting.
As you noted, every one of those banner ads are fake (so people who chastise me, should think twice about the real world).

The way they make the faked ad look more real, is that they choose to list the fake ad as being in "your home town".

For me, that home town shows up as a proxy - which always surprised me - because even though I use a proxy - it still has a geolocation (somewhere, who knows where, but somewhere).

In your case, it lists you "current location", which is what I had expected. What they're doing is geolocating you from your IP address, and then digging down to your ISP, and then figuring out the location of your ISP, which is, basically, your home town (for the most part).

So, just the fact they are listing where you live means they're doing that (i.e., they're not using the location zip information you put in the profile - they're geolocating instead - which is typical and normal for porn ads because they need ANYTHING they can to "seem" real).

Considering the fact they go to this much effort to fool us ...
I question whether anyone is actually FOOLED by these geo-located ads?

Just to be clear, the banner ads change depending on the profile (which I can see because I have various profiles).
So it's not just women, but also men, and couples, and gays, etc.

But, the main point is whether anyone actually believes these geolocated ads.

I must agree with you, that there is absolutely nothing about them that is believable, especially since I'm very well aware of geolocation (pretty much everything you type outside of a proxy is geolocated almost to your house - if you put as much data on the Internet that I do).

For example, if I were tracking "me" down from a post on the Internet, I'd probably have my home address in a day or two, and I would use normal everyday Internet tools, which are nothing special.

I can't disagree with you that only a fool would think these ads are real, but, then, I must ask, why do they do it?
Clearly they're getting PAID to do it.

BTW, it's similar to the "chat" boxes that pop onto the bottom of your screen on some web pages (I'm sure the guys here are familiar with that trick). In those chat boxes, a "woman" from your own home town proposes to chat with you. She mentions right away something like "Hey, I'm in Wannabe Texas, just like you. Wanna chat?".

My somewhat back-and-forth question is that I can't, myself, believe anyone is dumb enough to fall for the classic geolocation trick, yet, on the other hand, they spend a LOT of money doing it.

So, um, I guess, it must be working on someone.

Let's hope nobody who posts to this thread is that dumb (although, I'm not so sure, given some of the responses from people above who refuse to think or who fail to question anything that seems otherwise obvious to them - not knowing they're almost always wrong as a result).

I do appreciate the explanation. I'm a crack shot with the search feature here but I'm the biggest computer twit on the entire site. I always have to ask how/why things work the way they do.

This is the only time that I've moved that I haven't changed the location on this profile. (I got this cleared by former Mods because of certain circumstances.) If I hadn't moved 4,000 miles away, I'd have never known it wasn't from local.

And, you'd think we all (long ago) learned the answer why, right?
But wait ... do you REALLY know why?
For examples, is it the "molecules" of air, or the "dust" in the air? [Spoiler alert: Almost everyone has it wrong.]

Point is, when we stop asking questions, we're either dead, or dumb.

I agree most of those responses are likely bots, just as all those "chat" boxes are bots. Some of these bots are realistic, as they even get mad at you if you don't respond (they say "are you gay or what? Why don't you respond to me?).

I think the answer is that men are stupid (because, as you noted, they think with their dicks).

THAT IS VERY INTERESTING...

What we both agree is that women don't, we don't think, fall for these bots.
Why not?

Are women inherently SMARTER than men?
Hmmm.... probably not.

So, why do the men fall for these super-simple ruses?
I mean, ALL (I read every single one!) of the Nigerian bank scam American deaths were men who traveled to Nigeria to "get their money back from the buffoons they were dealing with". Of course, as the State Department web site makes clear, these misspelling dumbass buffoons killed the Americans, and got away with it, scott free. Those Nigerian scammers are not so dumb as they appear, after all.

Does simply having a dick make us men stoopid?
(The evidence says so, but, I think may be more that the testosterone is what makes us stooopid, not the dic itself.)

For example, if I didn't have testosterone, I wouldn't even be typing this up in the first place, because the entire conversation would be boring (which isn't a word I often use, and perhaps I have never used here before).

I realize this was said in humor, but also with a very real sense of what actually happens.

Our mutual experiences are so DIFFERENT, it's amazing that we can even converse with any sense of community.

We men are bombarded with fakes all aiming to get our money; you women are bombarded with pouncers, all aimed at getting (a pic of) your body.

It's a wonder we have anything in common - given the pouncers overwhelm us 100 to 1 - but in hugely different ways.

I know exactly what you're saying.
I do.
I too recognized at least ONE of the pictures as being the same "person" as someone with a profile here (in this case, it was a face shot, of a very handsome gray bearded kinkster).
That confused me. But not so much to shake my faith that the ads are all fake - especially since that well-known gray-bearded kinkster's profile doesn't list my "proxy" location.
This kinkster is actually on the message boards a LOT (hence, why I know his picture).
However, without asking questions - I can't immediately say that one out of 1,000 of those banner ads are real, because:
a) The picture could easily have been on the net (in either the guy's profile, or just taken off the net)
b) The geolocation didn't match
c) I'm sure if I had bothered to click on the fake geolocated banner ad, I would have found more discrepancies.

But, I do know what you mean.
At least ONE of the geolocated banner ad pictures was the same face (different picture, same face) as of someone who does have a profile here.

So, we need to pool our experiences to figure out two things:
a) Are ANY of these sanctioned banner ads real?
b) Do they all geolocate to your home town?
