These are my favorites from Rabindranath Tagore :

"If you shed tears when you miss the sun, you also miss the stars"

"I cannot chose the best. The best chooses me"

"Do not blame your food because you have no appetite"

"Do not insult your friend by lending him merits from your own pocket"

"Let him only see the thorns who has eyes to see the rose"

"Set the bird's wings with gold and it will never again soar in the sky"

"The stars are not afraid to appear like fireflies"

"Man is worse than an animal when he is an animal"

"Lead me in the centre of thy silence to fill my heart with songs"

"If you shut your door to all errors truth will be shut out"

"The canal loves to think that rivers exist solely to supply it with water"

are You sure my Lord? <is thinking of places in the world where everybody's got a gun, like iraq>

My dearest and most beloved shivvy, not everyone in Iraq has a gun.  That is the problem.  If everyone had a gun, and had always had a gun, then people would watch what they did and said around others.  Also, if they had put this practice in effect oh so long ago, my countries occupation would not have gone over so easily.  In the middle ages and the medieval era, Transylvania and it's surrounding sister countries pushed back the turks for over four hundred years because no self-respecting Transylvanian would be cought dead without at least a slingshot.  When I think of Transylvania, I am reminded of a quote from a game that actually originated there in England where you live.  It was in reference to a fictional planet that was a final stronghold against a inter-spacial vortex that let demons into the galaxy.  Here it is:

"Any Cadian child who doesn't know how to field strip and clean their las-rifle by age 8 was born on the wrong planet...and probably won't see age 9."

What a piece of work is man.
Shakespeare

We like this because it is one of those ambiguous sayings (when standing alone, that is...when the rest of the monologue is taken into account, it's a celebration of mankind) - it can be taken as "mankind is wonderful" or "people are fucking stupid"

Anger is a condition in which the tongue works faster than the mind.

You cant change the past but you can ruin the present by worrying about the future.

A hug is  great gift..one size fits all. It can be given for any occassion and is easy to exchange.

Laughter is God's sunshine.

Take time to laugh for it is the music of the soul.

If any speaks badly of you, live so that no one will believe it.

Do what you can, for who you can with what you have, and where you are.

"What better place than here?  What better time than now?"
~Rage Against the Machine ("Guerilla Radio")

and the always popular,

"Gather ye rosebuds while ye may,
Old Time is still a-flying;
And this same flower which smiles today
Tomorrow will be dying."
~Robert Herrick  ("To the Virgins, to Make Much of Time"... I so love that little sexual reference)
