So you do not believe there is any need or excuse for the no fly list?

You know full well I didn't say that, but the way it is currently constructed is crap and results in penalizing many innocent people most of whom lack the means to fight back. I have said repeatedly that the first thing that needs to be done, 2nd amendment aside is fix it so that it does what it is suppossed to.
If you want to start restricting people because someone somewhere suspects them of something you can just put everyone on the list.
I said nothing about the no fly list being a bad idea, but the execution is pathetic.
Fix it base it on proof, properly identify the people who are supposed to be on it. If someone runs afoul of it let them know why they are on it.
As it is it is too easy for people who they think is on it to slip through (a fake ID for example) and too easy for the wrong people to be flagged and nailed by it, Ted Kennedy being a perfect example.

Funny...the button that released the magazine on my M-16 never needed a tool. Guess I must have been doing it wrong, eh?

So you are clueless as to what we are talking about. In states like california the ar15 magazine cannot be removed without dissassembling the weapon. M-16 are not legal in calif.

People enjoy consuming crap, lovmuffin - McDonalds to eat, Fox News for their 'information - both are nice 'n' easy to consume, and fuck the fact that both are harmful. Fox News is not 'news'. It's 'olds'. It exists to confirm people's lazy-arsed, mindless, meathead prejudices. It's just cretinous garbage that allows them to think, 'Hah! Just what I always thought!' Fox News is there for people who don't actually want to know anything new.

kdsub -> RE: Shooting in California (12/4/2015 5:37:07 PM)

Then should not the focus be on making sure the people we have on the list are indeed a risk... then making damn sure they cannot buy guns?

Butch

I suspect none of the pricks promoting fox news as a decent news source have even watched your brilliant link. Especially the part where the "expert" tries to suggest he has been relying on sources that are totally incorrect, but refuses to name them.

No...you are clueless. I don't mind admitting that I don't have assault-style rifles and other than their general appearance and the fact that they are not an assault rifle and can LEGALLY be sold as a semi-automatic and that modification to make them fully automatic is illegal, I don't care to know about them. What was being discussed was whether or not these weapons were illegal. You asked if I knew what made these weapons illegal. I mis-spoke because I only knew they'd been modified to accept a bigger magazine and I misread or misunderstood what you were asking. It happens.

But you had your "gotcha" moment...congrats. Your "gotcha" moment has fuck-all to do with the topic and it doesn't change the fact that the weapons were illegally modified but congrats.

Butch

If they know they are a risk why aren't they doing something about them other than making them bring the guns in from outside? You know that I have said that the background check system needs to be improved so that relevant information is put in it and used to stop truely dangerous people from obtaining weapons. If they base the list on FACTS not accusations then FACTS that are relevant should be used. Not if we use Joe's standard of they are law abiding ....till they aren't so we have to assume everyone who wants a firearrm is a threat. First things first, base the no fly list on FACTS identify the people realistically. Then and only then should that information be added.
While we are at it how about making the states enter the information that the system is supposed to have.
And you were 100% wrong that people have to proove they are not a felon or crazy, the government has to prove they are. The same would have to be followed here, they don't have to proove they aren't a terrorist the government would have to proove they are.

There is no gotcha.
You know things now that you did not know before that is all and nothing more.
It is a stupid law that california passed and it makes those weapons difficult to use. Side light if you owned a "pre ban" ar 15 and pre ban hi-cap mags you are legal. If you come from out of state with a weapon that requires a bullet button it is a two minute job to install it. When you buy one of those weapons in california it comes with the bullet button and the original magazine release so that if you leave the state you can have a detachable magazine again. While the weapon itself has a serial number and thus it's date of manufacture is known magazines do not. So thre is no way to know if your hi-cap mags are pre ban or post...they just are not for sale in california.

The removal of one's rights should not be taken lightly. You seem to casually toss around the idea that random people should have their rights removed without due process. This line of thought is very troublesome as in the US we have the presumption of innocence.

Lucylastic -> RE: Shooting in California (12/4/2015 7:03:09 PM)

presumption of innocence? LMAO
for who?
white folks? christians?

Greta75 -> RE: Shooting in California (12/4/2015 7:05:26 PM)

FR
I feel like this incident has nothing to do with gun control. I think the President should stop misleading people that this specific incident is a gun control issue.

They had so many bombs with them too. We should be talking about bombs control!

They can use non-islamic motivated crimes for gun control. But with islamic motivated crimes, the bombs are the issues. Not the guns.

Unless things have changed drastically since the last time I spent time in a courtroom, everyone is innocent until proven guilty. Inclusion on a "suspect" list does not warrant losing one's rights.

There you go again, lashing out. Good talking points there. FOX News is "olds" ?? That's a new one LMAO Cretinous ?? Good grief, why not add the rest of the liberal talking points, racists, sexists, bigots, homophobes ?

Evey television network news, newspaper and news magazine, and worst of all, internet news have their own editorial viewpoint. FOX reaches more people than any of them which is why you guys have your panties in a bunch.

Pick your poison Peon. Tell us all what news source we should all rely on with the editorial viewpoint that makes you happy.

I did not know that. Only in California

So, you can legally obtain one of these dastardly rifles with a fixed magazine ((because we all know that no other type of firearm will sufice for mass murder nor could they be had for that purpose because after all there is that pesky gun law)) but with a simple tool, convert it to fit a detachable magazine in 2 minutes.

That should fix things.
LMAO

Hopefully I made it clear that if the no fly list were based solely on facts showing a person to be a clear danger it could be acceptable.
There will always, however, be the problem that national security issues have their own criteria.

We are not letting them fly my friend... are gun rights the only ones in this world?... If you are worried about their rights to guns then they should have the right to fly with your children.
