Wealth in singapore are the five cs...car,credit card,condominuim,cash and country club. Cops are not blind and the five cs are pretty easy to spot.

So how would a cop know which person on the street has the five Cs?

Possession of a car. Possession of a drivers license. Address on drivers license.

Hiya, Hill.

I voted pretty much the same as any other person I'd run across. I mean, I know better than most people that just because someone is in a uniform (police, military, etc) doesn't automatically mean they are a good person. You've got as much chance of being "right" that they are decent than any other person that you run across. Then, you have the ones who try to hide behind their uniform so folks will think they wouldn't ever do some really messed up stuff.

The clothes a person wears isn't the best way to judge character.

NO!! I don't trust most cops anymore.

Just pull up videos on YouTube...you'll be disgusted and because it is in fact becoming more widespread.

Yes there are cops who shouldn't be trusted with a drivers liscense but the vast majority are trustworthy people.
Cops are human, and most of the "excesses" are because someone does something to bring it on, beginning with assuming they are the enemy.

You're silly. Gum can legally be purchased from pharmacy for dental reasons. How can a police possibly bother you for chewing gum? The law says, you cannot sell gum, unless for medical reasons, thus the dental gum. There is no law that says you can't chew gum.
I do own a home, I do own a car, and I have travelled yes. You don't need to be a millionaire to do that at all. For example, my home is fully paid by that 40% taxes that you keep insisting is tax. I told you it's our money to use. So my home does not even dig into my salary. And my car cost me only 28k when COE crash to $2. Don't need to be a millionaire to afford that. Currently COE (Certificate of Entitlement to own a car for 10 years) is at $60k. But like the stock market, that goes up and down, so buy the car when it crashes again. Currently it's dropping again.

I've had a bad experience and a good experience.
Generally, I don't trust people. I trust police slightly more, but probably because my interactions with them are minimal.

Is it becoming more widespread (ie are more police doing it) or are we just noticing it more due to YouTube and the proliferation of video-capable cell phones that people always carry with them? Let us not forget minorities have, for decades, claimed to be framed or unfairly targeted by the police.

I would trust the majority of cops about as far as I could piss into a force ten gale.
Here in Queensland, they are beginning to wear chest cams, so that anything they do or say or that is said to them goes on record; and STILL the stupid bastards, bash people, beat people up and use more excessive force at times and then they have the STOOOOOOOOOOPID audacity to attempt to deny they did it or that it was them that did it.
I have to admit that my dislike of cops goes back to when I was a J.D. in London and the habit that cops there had of fitting people up, just so they could clear the crime-books a little and get some of the more annoying types off the streets, regardless of whether they had done anything or not. West-End-Central was one of the most infamous but J Division wasn't far behind.

As far as I'm concern, I own it for the 99 years lease I paid for. And anyway, the reason why it's on lease is because every 80 years or so, they will bang down the whole building and rebuild. You will be given another home for free in replacement for another 99 years.

So it's pretty much owning. We don't like old buildings in Singapore. Everything gets bang down and rebuilt before 100 years is up.

My fuel cost me only $50 a mth, my fuel efficiency is very good, and Singapore is tiny, it takes me 10 mins to drive to work and home. Free parking at work. Plus, I work own time own target, so I always skip peak hours, and don't get stuck in jams. My season parking cost me only $60 a mth. And pretty much I park where-ever is free parking. Being local, we know where all the free carparks are. My road tax is only $300 per annum. Car insurance is only $800 per annum.

Don't need to be a millionaire to afford that. And not all millionaires own cars. Why should they? Taxis are as convenient.

I'm not really sure at the moment Thompson but I have the feeling that the new licences here don't have an address on them. They have a chip in them that can be scanned. I really don't know yet though. I'll let you know in December when I renew my licence *smile*.
