Place where political correctness means - you can't challenge people's sensitivities because of 'safe spaces'.

Where they think allowing prostitution to be legal and arresting johns ... sounds like a good idea.

A place where Big Gulps are illegal and denying climate ... should be.

Your thoughts?

phydeaux, I didn't take the least bit of offense in the thread's title, but being from new york STATE, I would love to point out that most of the rest of us in the state are not in accord with what goes on in the city.

if it weren't for the nyc area, and a few other urban areas, new York would be red.

The only shame I've ever felt about being from NYC is the stain of the mamby-pamby liberatti that exists there.

I thank GOD, every day, that I was raised with decent, Christian, core values that taught me the right way to live (both meanings of "right", there). Some of my values are not those of my grandparents, but a good portion of them are.

In my lifetime (and I'm not young), I've seen the city go from "good progressive" (equal rights, etc.) to "How-Ridiculous-can-we-be leftist" (MY lack of ability to buy a big gulp or smoke cigarettes OUTSIDE, but dope-smokin' idiots can light up at will in certain places and certain times).

It's a disgrace. A pox on Bloomberg, DiBlasio and the whole Tammany Hall Machine.

I bet youd like this book:

http://www.amazon.com/Cant-Believe-Sitting-Next-Republican/dp/159403480X

quote:

I Can't Believe I'm Sitting Next to a Republican: A Survival Guide for Conservatives Marooned Among the Angry, Smug, and Terminally Self-Righteous.

With biting wit and amusing personal anecdotes, Harry Stein’s I Can’t Believe I’m Sitting Next to a Republican chronicles the everyday travails and triumphs of the plucky conservatives marooned in the liberal bastions that loathe them, from Manhattan to Hollywood, to all the noxious places in between.

and some good stuff from the reviewers:

quote:

The totalitarian spirit is not only alive, but very well indeed, and growing like a virus in our republic...

Don't judge by the cover. This book is not funny. I spent 40 years of my life living in Communist Poland. Now Communism is long gone, and I am U.S. citizen. And I am figuring it out that in today USA presenting myself as Republican is actually more dangerous and is creating more problems that presenting myself as anti-communist when living under Communist regime...

Harry Stein has written another political hit book about the plight of a conservative living in a blue state. I found myself laughing out loud at his descriptions of his encounters with the liberals in his home town and how he dealt with, or avoided contact with, these foam at the mouth, raving, irrational, pinko liberal bed wetting degenerates who think they have the only political answers to everything. The book has a serious and troubling side; namely the academic world's suppression of conservative thought and the blacklisting of academics who are not liberal in their thoughts or ideas. There are other areas of discrimination that he describes in great and disturbing detail, particularly in the world of newspaper and magazine journalism and radio or television work. I was fascinated by the book...

New York is the center of the Known Universe (other than of course....m'se'f....however....as to NYC....I'll gladly take second place).

New York is the beginning.....and the end....it is where all good things emanate from and....where I'd prefer to be.

New York is a fantastic place, requiring SHITLOADS of money to survive in, whether upstate (taxes) or in The City (cost)....it's where the action is....it's where dreams begin, end and.....begin again.

"If you can make it anywhere...."

It's where dreams begin.....and.....begin again (and....for the official record....for those who have truly experienced NYC {and for those who have not}....there is not one single redundancy in that last....or this....comment).

It's where the best motherfucking food on EARTH exists....in the strangest of places...corners....alcoves....dark hidden streets...it's where you can't find a parking space and....where you can....it costs 3 times what you thought was....entirely outfuckingrageous.

And the food....makes every penny worth spending....(error...."investing").

The food.....there's no possible way to describe the food....

Art....other than Paris....or the Getty in L.A., NYC IS where art lives. MOMA....others....it's where art begins it's journey....and....it's every bit....circular.

(You can't start searching for/looking for/at art....and not start in NYC.....and if you end up any {other} place else in the end....you didn't look hard enough).

It's where you can walk the streets in Chelsea and find the best gawdamned burger place that ever was.

(And ever will be).

(And you'll only find it by walking....in a city of cars).

It is....to be succinct.....(and I don't live there....wish I did) all that is good is, was....and always will be.

And those of you that live there or....frequent....understand my passion.

NYC is singularly....well....NYC. An enigma but....a beautiful whore....sucking you dry if you allow it to but...bringing life if you know how to find it/feed it/fund it.

You can only be breathless walking through NYC/Manhattan/The Bronx/Queens....it's the greatest gawdamn city on Earth.

(And if, at the end...you weren't....breathless....you weren't paying attention).

There IS no other city.

On the entire planet.

NYC is "it".

End of discussion.

Your superiority complex is showing.

There is nothing in your posts that indicate higher intelligence. And all that "nutsucker" shit indicates immaturity.

could be that, but I also suspect this:

quote:

Coprolalia is involuntary swearing or the involuntary utterance of obscene words or socially inappropriate and derogatory remarks.

Coprolalia comes from the Greek κόπρος (kopros) meaning "feces" and λαλιά (lalia) from lalein, "to talk". The term is often used as a clinomorphism, with "compulsive profanity" inaccurately referred to as being Tourette syndrome.

Related terms are copropraxia, performing obscene or forbidden gestures, and coprographia, making obscene writings or drawings.…

Coprolalia is not unique to tic disorders; it is also a rare symptom of other neurological disorders. It may occur after injuries to the brain such as stroke and encephalitis; in other neurological conditions such as choreoacanthocytosis, seizures, and Lesch–Nyhan syndrome; and rarely in persons with dementia or obsessive-compulsive disorder in the absence of tics. It also has been associated with Type 3 Overfocused ADD, as described by Daniel G. Amen M.D., in Healing ADD.
