That is a dang fine question! Here are some examples of emails that even I'll respond to. Please do keep in mind, I don't use the hover feature that much unless I know these are possibilities.

The opening has to be hi LP, Lady Pact, or my real first name. If I see the terms Mistress, Goddess, Her High Exalted Pooh Bah, or any ridiculous thing that some stranger shouldn't be calling me, you are automatically toast.

Real examples:

"I just moved to the <insert town/location here> area and I was wondering if you could tell me where the local munch is held?"

"I was at Club XYZ and saw your presentation on <insert topic>. I was wondering if you would answer a couple of questions about ..."

"I met you at Club ABC on Friday night. I was the guy wearing ..."

"I was talking to <person we know in common X> the other day and your name came up." (This one, I actually will write person we know in common X to verify that's correct before I'll answer the email.)

"That is a very nice corset in your profile picture. Do you mind if I ask where you got it from?"

I will answer emails *if*:

I know you in person.

We both know another individual in common (that means in person, not the net) and that other person can tell me you are a decent human being.

You are a long term poster from the forums (five years or more) and you've got a decent posting history that contributes to topics, seem pleasant enough, etc.

Dear Lady, Dear Lady P, some people call me Pact. Pretty much any version of my screen name fits. I didn't think I'd have to type out all of them to convey the point.

Now, if somebody went with something like "Dear Sweet Lady" or "Dear Lady of the Night" or some other silly thing, yeah, they'd be deleted.

Lotteries must be quite good in your country. Here, they run chance of one in millions. I can promise I return more emails than that.

No, and you are being presumptuous.

It would still have to have the content of something along the examples that I gave. There is no "better play with you" because that's not the criteria that I would need for a play partner. Very simply, it was some random examples of questions that I would (and have) answer via email, rather than deleting the message if I used the hover feature. If I got something like the following, I'd still delete it if the greeting was acceptable.

"Dear Lady Pact,

I am a <stated age> male submissive living in <country other than I reside>. I am blah, blah, blah ..."

No question. I'd delete that.

ETA - By the way, this absolutely does display that you are not doing to well at not writing to women outside of your age group. If their upper limit is 40, that means they are probably about half of your age. In some cases, people will accept age gaps up to a certain point but I know few exceptionally few Dominant women that would do a thirty year age gap with someone their senior.
