Greta75 -> Should parents who do not keep an eye on their kid get some kind of penalty? (5/30/2016 7:44:56 AM)

Two cases with similarities caught my eye.

https://sg.news.yahoo.com/japanese-boy-disappears-parents-leave-him-forest-023015655.html?nhp=1

First one is super funny to me, because the parents abandoned the 7 yr boy to scare him in a forest and now the boy is completely missing. I know poor kid's life is at stake, but if he got eaten by bears or wolves, it would even be funnier! Serves as a good lesson for future parents not to do this as punishment! And I hope the bill for the search party is sent to their doorsteps.

I remember when I was young, when my parents throw me out of the house and lock the gates on me, or my teachers throw me out of the classroom. I would disappear too. I'd just walk out and away which sets the adults on a panic and then they will follow you and yell at you to come back.

It's like, okay, I'm gonna take a walk!

I think it's the dumbest punishment. Considering I got bang down by a car when I was 8. Let a kid wander, things happen.

And then this one.

A beautiful majestic gorilla has to die thanks to a mom not holding the hands of her 4 yr old and keeping him close to her! Seriously, poor gorilla. Unnecessary death! Dude was happily in his little hareem with 2 females, and like free food all day. It's suppose to be safe and he got shot!

The choice to put the gorilla down only shows that the Response Team places a higher value on that boy's life than on the gorilla's life. They couldn't tranq the gorilla because it's not instantaneous. The gorilla gets hit and goes apeshit (pun intended) holding the little boy. The unfortunate putting down of the gorilla was the better choice.

Do you have kids, Greta? If you do, I sure hope you don't ever do anything that puts them in harms way, and they get hurt. I can't even imagine how I'd feel if I were to do something like that and my kid gets harmed. I wouldn't wish that upon anyone else, either. I was pushing my 3 year old on a swing and he let go, breaking his femur when he landed. I went through an awful lot of misery with that. And, he was laid up for "only"10 weeks. Had he had permanent damage or died, I'm not sure I'd be here today.

This is the most heartless thing you have ever said, Greta.

These stories are tragic, not funny. The fact that you think a missing boy is super funny, and would be even funnier if he ends up getting eaten by wild animals, shows a lack of humanity that, until now, I thought that even you were above.

You are talking about the death of a child.

It is a tragic lesson for the parents. Maybe the parents need to be taught a lesson, but I don't believe that they deserved this type of lesson, nor does the child deserve to die just to show them a lesson.

This is something that will very likely haunt them for the rest of their lives.

Unbelievable.

And those parents will deserve every bit of it.

Well as long as they learn something from it, I guess the death of the child would not be in vain.

I guess the added entertainment you would get from such a tragedy is just a bonus.

More than my entertainment. It's more than what one set of parents learn about this. Any parent with young children who read this article will think twice before abandoning their child in the woods. It's kinda a good cautionary tale.

This was rather difficult to hear on the radio today. It made me cringe but a father ran over his one year old with his truck in the driveway close to where I live.

Looks to me more and more like this world is a stupidity contest.

Note the winners.

That happened in my country too. A mom reversed into her house and ran over her 3 yr old son who was running out to greet her. Caucasians by the way, not even locals.

I always advocate Reverse Cameras!

But in these cases, the parents weren't trying to punish the kid. The abandon in the woods one, the parents were being malicious.

Greta you are an evil bitch and I hope you die a lingering death.

Personally, the real evil ones are the parents involve for abandoning their 8 yr old in a forest filled with wild animals. I did not personally put the kid out there.

Zoo staff take no chances as child’s mother is shot

Zoo shooting mother of child
The neglectful mother of a small child has been shot at an American zoo.

Tina Regal, 38, wasn’t paying attention to her child which subsequently wound up in the gorilla enclosure.

“So we shot her in the leg almost immediately,” confirmed zookeeper, Simon Williams.

“Not in the head, obviously, we’re not monsters.

“But we needed to make sure the child wasn’t brought to any kind of unnecessary harm, and a quick bullet to the thigh does seem to set most parents straight.”

Regal said, “I wasn’t expecting to get shot in the leg, but then life is full of surprises.”

“I had left little Billy alone only for an hour or so whilst I went to go and do something more interesting. I didn’t realise that was wrong and I assumed the zookeepers would do their job and babysit him.

“I notice the gorillas didn’t get shot, but I suppose the zookeepers were just afraid of hitting my son.”

Williams replied, “actually we were afraid of hitting the gorillas.”

NRA seeks to prevent further Zoo tragedies with call to arm Gorillas

Wayne Lapierre, NRA, shooting, Gorilla
The National Rifle Association has today insisted the tragic death of Harambe the seventeen-year-old Gorilla could have been avoided had Harambe been allowed to exercise his second amendment rights.

NRA spokesperson Wayne Lapierre said the only way to avoid tragic shootings inside Zoos is to make sure there are more guns available to those involved.

He told reporters, “If someone is pointing a rifle at you, even though you’ve done absolutely nothing wrong, then you should be able to defend yourself.

“I guarantee that poor gorilla would still be here today if he had been carrying a side-arm, or kept a rifle of his own within reach.

“Anyone would think twice about opening fire on a Gorilla if you thought it might shoot back.”

“Of course, in Cincinnati, you need a permit to conceal a side-arm, and who is going to give a permit to a gorilla – even though it’s his constitutional right. It’s time to hold President Obama accountable.”

Others have been quick to criticise the authorities who were extremely keen to discharge their weapons during the incident.

As one anti-violence campaigner told us, “This is yet another tragic teenager shot by the authorities for no good reason, when will this cycle of violence end?

The solution is obvious....more "good" gorillas with guns.

The number of adults that I wish I could in the leg at the zoo . . . it is legion.

Id be quite happy with a cattle prod...not just at the zoo
