OP, I'm not inclined to believe the original. Maybe it was that part about the pants not coming off until the fourth person joined in. Or, perhaps that was supposed to be the fourth woman that stepped up and she was managed to be able to be reached by the bound woman on the low table. I don't know.

Not really posting regularly anymore but somebody asked me to pop in about a different matter, so I caught this post.
The part that I highlighted above is not entirely correct. I can't speak for Virginia or those in DC. However, for Maryland, I can attest the above isn't the case.
Of the three clubs that I'm familiar with in MD, (Baltimore Playhouse, Charm City Play Space, and Studio 58) all three are sex positive. Only one (BP) has membership dues. With them, you can either do yearly dues or lifetime support.
Where and when you can have sex varies. None of them allow sex in the lounge/entry area. BP does have some nights that are no sex but when groups hold their events at BP, it's determined by the group using the facility. CCPS restricts sexual activity to the main dungeon, so nothing in entry, foyer, or smoking room. (Yes, they have one.)
As I'm sure you know, Studio 58 chose not to renew it's lease for the Grove Ln location and had their last party there just nine days ago. The nice advantage they had was the private rooms upstairs, which allowed you to do closed door (no voyeurs) or open door (voyeurs permitted). Of course, members of staff could check the rooms at their discretion. Some of their events, you could also have sex on the main floor, depending on the event, attendance numbers, etc.
On alcohol, BP and CCPS are dry clubs. Studio 58 had some events that were BYOB. At this time, I'm not aware of any BDSM clubs (meaning permanent buildings/locations) that actually have a liquor license for the purchase/sale of alcohol, though I'm aware of some that have BYOB for some of their activities.
Back to sex. :) I'm probably in agreement with Oside's earlier post about the majority of the sex being blow jobs of the male Dom/female s-type variety. Penetration is more likely to be M/f as well. You *might* see some F/f sexual scenes, but they tend to be more couple than group. The group scenes tend to be more prearranged, rather than spontaneous 'anybody can join' type. (I don't do swinger's nights, so I could be off on that.) It's rare to see F/m sexual scenes where the male is the receiver, unless they are an established D/s couple. Not counting classes, you just don't see a lot of males getting pegged during open play nights. The majority of places that are sex positive do have the safe sex practices rule, so another reason why I'm not inclined to believe the story of the OP, because I saw no mention of that in the original.
Of course, people may find things different in their locations, YMMV, and all of that.
