Don't you know, if the Dems do it that is taking a stand, it is only obstructionist if Reps do it.

For guys who are picky about words, you sure are blind when guns are involved.

Obstructionist means "make sure nothing gets done." That's the Republican motto -- starting with judges. And...guns.

The sit-in is to force a vote -- meaning to do something. Opposite of doing nothing.

We've done nothing far too long. Americans by and large no longer give a fuck about Rs and Ds. They want to see some leadership.

Actually they are trying to work, it is the Reps who do not want to, which is their usual stance, unless it is an attempt to repeal the ACA.

well, either way, we have new drama to add to the ritual ACA vote dozens and dozens of times.

They didn't say they would sit in till they got a vote.
They said they would sit in till they got the bills they wanted passed.
They are demanding that a vote they are sure to lose be ignored and legislation by demonstration and proclimation.
Maybe the Southern democrats should have just throw out the procedures and staged protests in Congress till they got thier way. ]
They are acting like a bunch of spoiled children.
The same people were not the least bit shy about refusing to vote on Republican bills when they had the majority.

Afraid not.

Dozens of House Democrats staged a sit-in on the House floor Wednesday in protest of the GOP leadership’s refusal to allow a vote on a gun control measure following the Orlando massacre.

Democrats have tried numerous times over the past week to force a vote on a “no fly, no buy” bill, which would bar terror suspects on the “no-fly” list from purchasing guns. The sit-in represented a sharp escalation in the fight, however, putting political pressure on Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) to allow a roll-call vote on the policy issue that’s gotten the most traction following the Florida shooting.

Facts can be awfully inconvenient can't they?

Just before my last post I read two articles on this, complete with quotes.
While some may well have said they just want a vote, which is a waste of bill through the house than the Senate, and they already lost in the Senate,

" Nancy Pelosi reiterated that point, saying Democrats would continue the sit-in "until we have a bill.

This according to CNN, that is not demanding a vote that is demanding passage.

Yes facts can be annoying things.

Interesting that, by and large, people only want to ban the AR-15. A quick Google search showed headlines such as:

  • This Is The Gun That Committed The Deadliest Shooting In U.S. ...
  • The AR-15, the gun behind some of the worst mass shootings in ... - Vox
  • America's obsession with automatic weapons - The Telegraph

I just checked, my semi-automatic AR15s are safe and sound, not out killing people with murderous rage. Perhaps it was the exorcism that saved me, or, if one believes The Telegraph, the lack of a fully-automatic sear.

I read an article a while back, and wish I could find it again, about why people wanted to ban the AR15. It hinted that the AR15, in certain people's eyes, seems to be used to murder white people in places where white people, specifically white suburban mothers, may often find themselves: schools, theaters, etc. Of course most firearm-related homicides are committed using handguns, not an AR15, but those homicides are mostly confined to the inner city where white suburban mothers dare not go.

All I had to do is google the sit in. This isn't a top secret broadcast. I would expect it is still on the CNN site.
