No inner spite here, Nnanji, just sadness that 31,000 people are killed by gun shooters every year.

So, it took my a wee bit over two hours to reply. That's too slow for you? You think you're a special person? I owe you a quicker reply? Nothing special about you. Be careful you don't fall off your high horse and shoot yourself in the ass with your gun.

I'm looking where I said anything about a response time. I think you're projecting again.

THE WEAPONS EFFECT

The effects on behavior of incidental environmental stimuli is referred to as "priming," and you can just as easily prime subjects to give more compassionate responses. Moreover, in social situations weapons are rarely in view or displayed until and unless things have already reached a point where they're needed. You will not find any support in science for the view that guns are imbued with evil magic.

Actually you need to adjust your figures, two thirds of those are suicides, making us 50th in suicide rate in the world. Two call that killed by shooters in disingenuous. There are another couple of thousand that are from accidents. Your actual number would be around 10,000 the majority of which is gangbanger violence. At least use the right numbers.

You know what, I believe that you are sad about 31,000 gun deaths per year. I really am. So I won't post a cite to show that 60%of those were suicide or accidents and not "gun shooters" and that 80% of the rest were young black men shooting each other in gang related activities. So what I suggest you do is work on the suicide thing in this country and work on the gang banger thing in this country before you make the assumption that you should take the right to own guns from me. You do that and let me know if you need help.

The NRA is for background checks. They, wanted the instant check when it became technologically possible because too many states would use a waiting period to harass the legal commerce of buying a gun. When the instant check went into affect, part of the law was that the government had to destroy their records within...I think...two days...or two weeks, I don't remember. The government and anti-gunners wanted to keep the records to compile a data base of gun owners. It is that data base of gun owners that the NRA opposes.

There you go putting in facts.
And for those who say don't worry, you can trust the government the Clinton Admistration ignored the law a admitted to keeping the data for six months (way beyond the time limit) for "reasearch" purposes. They never gave any evidence that they didn't move any of that data to other databases, you know like a list of gun owners.

Really, I'd like to see either a link or know your credentials for making that statement. Having been around groups of people with guns a lot, for a large portion of my life, my experience has been the opposite. It's just like working in a machine shop with lots of people operating lots of potentially very damaging machines. People tend to feel the weight and responsibility of it and take special care. I'd like to know your stats or experience with this that shows my, literally, thousands of experiences as the exception to your rule.

Nnanji! The issue based on the foggy information we have is not the thousands of responsible gun owners who are exceptions to "my rule." The issue is Lovell's actions which seem to be the exception to the expectation of your gun owner buddies. Lovell could have fired at the top of the door or at the bottom. But no, he fired straight on at the kill zone. Man with a gun in his hand. I don't need statistics or experience imagining the power he must have felt. A knowledge of human psychology will suffice.

How many of the thousands of gun owners you know were ever in Lovell's position and refrained from firing? I'd like to know your stats on how many refrained from pulling the trigger. How many times have you witnessed the same situation? What are your credentials? What is the deep store of knowledge of human psychology that permits you to give a free pass to all gun owners?
What is your vast store of knowledge of human psychology...and objectivity...that allows you to characterize ANYONE as a delusional hero?

Not trying to be an ass, but he once told me he was a believer in liberation theology. It a mixture of socialism and, I'm not sure in his case, catholic faith. In my mind, with no disrespect to him, it's a delusional faith and he projects that delusion. The catholic priests in South America that picked up that branch of the faith did some good things for the poor.

They don't. People like Hillary say they do in order to rabble rouse. Every law the national leftists have ever said they want passed is already in law here in my state. It makes no difference. Passing laws that only law abiding people will follow only takes away rights from law abiding people. Here in California they just keep passing laws, I think six more very onerous laws will go into affect next January. Some times someone just has to say enough is enough no more. There's no power to do that in California so the liberals have taken the laws to absurd levels. The NRA was instituted to protect rights, just the same as the ACLU was for the 1st Amenment. The ACLU is never chided for saying enough is enough. The NRA is just saying enough is enough taking reasonable 2nd amendment rights from citizens. But they are always very willing to work with people who have an actual answer that may help gun violence. But, merely taking rights from citizens for political hay doesn't interest them.

an opinion poll about feelings, I think if my dick was twice as large most girls would want to suck it more. I get it, and rather self-referential for good or bad, but short of the mark somehow.
