The flag I marched behind wasn't the American flag MrRodgers, ( nor did it have a 'butchers apron' in it anywhere smile) but I know what you mean about the stars and stripes being an emblem of hatred and fear to many countries now. I have seen it in a lot of corners of the world. When did it all begin going wrong I wonder ? So many wars to choose from. So many wrong diplomatic policies to point at.

Well too often the whole idea behind honoring any flag, is something called patriotism. Some call it emotionalism or jingoism and nothing more. Patriotism however could just as easily be defined as claiming a pride in your country being great, simply because, you were...born in it. I once heard a commentator say during their recent adventurism in Ukraine etc. "Well I am sure there are some 'proud' Russians.....' And I thought, just what does any Russian have to be proud of ? They had lived for over 200 years with a vast majority in poverty under Czarist or communist dictatorships. Many millions of Russians 'betrayed' their country because [it] got them nothing.

The convention would be the perfect platform to spell out their vision of the American future and how they propose to achieve it.
