Myself, I tend to think: shoplifting isn't noble or even usually clever, but neither is it a heinous offence against us all. It makes a teensy difference in the greater scheme of things. One shoplifter, even a chronic one, is less of a menace to society than one bloke who likes to speed in his car, for instance. That latter is a *very* common buzz, too.
