You seem to be pretty....no totally ignorant of north amerikan history. Amerika has invaded canada three times and all three times amerika got their asses handed to them on a plate.
Who is amerika protecting canada from? Amerika has enemies of our own making. Why would you think that amerika's enemies are necessarily canada's enemies? Who has canada pissed off enough to warant an attack on them?
If you were one of the ameikans that canada helped to escape from iran, would you think it a "small" favor?
As far as ameika having the strongest military in the world remember that n. korea chased us out of their country, viet nam chased us out of their country and we are hardly "in charge" in the sandbox after 23 years. Put down the kool aid, turn off the t.v. and educate yourself.

Yes, the US trying to annex Canada is why the border is "ruler straight" unlike almost every other border in the world. It is because it was established by treaty. (I know it is not really ruler straight because it goes around a sphere but the term applies close enough)
You second point about Canada having enemies, well they are making enemies by taking up with the US. Even if the US sends 10,000 troops and they send 10, they still sent troops. And don't forget the old adage thine enemy's enemies are thine friends. Also, I think one of the reasons they have less mayhem there over immigrants and refugees is that first of all guns are like three grand. And everything is under control, they have patriotic people who will report suspicious activity and all that. In the US, people have lost faith in law enforcement. After the first time I got robbed, after what they told me I never called them again. I can understand, when in business there are some customers who think they are the only customer. They don't have time to chase down my missing stereo, and like doing a door to door search looking for the same model and serial number. Unless you need a police report for insurance purposes forget it.
Most other countries are alot more law and orderlike. But the bottom line is they are making enemies as long as their soldiers ride with the US into other countries to create more terrorists. Just like England, France and a few other places which had a very small role in US activities, they will become a target for terrorism.
As far as the Iranian debacle, we already have the details on that and the embassy was seized because Carter harbored a fugitive from justice. What's more, what alot of people don't know is that those prisoners were not treated all that bad given the circumstances. One person claimed illness and after they confirmed it they released him. The only ones tortured were in US intel services, they rest could only bitch about hearing it. Otherwise they all made it back. I'm not saying they should have done it, but at least they were not complete animals about it.
And about this strongest military shit, right. They can't even defend a military base from a lone gunman. Let me ask this : If the soldiers were not allowed to be armed then how did someone armed get in there ? They just leave the doors open ? T%his is bullshit. And while you're right about Nam and Korea, as well as Iraq and Afghanistan, every foreign attack since WW2 on this country has succeeded.
And they changed the story as well, first it was that the RADAR was out and then it changed to the RADAR worked but they were expecting a shipment. FROM WHOM ? A country we had such tight embargoes on that was starving and driven to attack ? What the fuck would they think was coming from Japan ? Who the fuck would the US be buying planes from ? So they just stuck their foot in it when they changed the story.
Fact is they do not want to defend this country. they want every attack to succeed so that the People will support a bigger budget "to solve the problem" and they never will, on purpose.
How much of US military defends our borders ?
And there is no hope. The ultrasickening liberal are in the republican party. They give welfare to the rich and democrats give welfare to the poor. And it all comes at the expense of the fewer and fewer people who actually produce anything of value.
