Hillary did a fine job of listening to and working with all the serious stake holders to design a workable health insurance system. The medical insurance industry didn't like the profit margin of a system that was affordable for the Users, and started slinging all the made up shit anyone could imagine to discredit her and the widely cooperative effort. This was her introduction to modern politics, why she now just smiles at Trump's amateurish similar efforts.
ACA was mostly a direct copy of the Mass. health care insurance put in place by a REPUBLICAN governor most of us have heard of, a Mr. Romney. Obama quickly got educated that a Republican plan backed by a Dem POTUS instantly became a Socialist Plot, and in the process of getting approved, got a Webster's Unabridged size amount of messy compromises and poison pill provisions that nobody yet fully understands. And it probably would have been a lot better, but the last Dem holdout to put the vote over the top, Sen. Lieberman, refused to vote for the ACA unless the 'Single Payer (Public) Option' was removed. This didn't make the system a single payer system, but would have set up as one option a 'company' that would have had a different pricing and profit motive, keeping the corporate options 'honest', i.e., less profitable and more in line with actual costs. Obama didn't have the 'cloakroom' brass knuckle skills of Pres. Johnson, developed over decades keeping the House Dems in line, and caved on the single most important part of an affordable health care system.

It cant work successfully in americas defacto system of government. You would need to go back to the constitution from the very beginning and restructure nearly all the laws to get it to work 'properly' in a sustainable manner [the way Hillary wants to do it].

Thehe current situation was inevitable, which should have been obvious to anybody before the bill was passed. That's what happens when you let the health insurance lobbyists write the health insurance law.

so we agree on repeal and you agree with trump that the catastophe should be repealed

Of course, where we differ is on what to replace it with. Single payer will solve most of the problems, and Trump's "plan" will do no such thing.

He's blind, and can't actually read anything. The small boy he employs to read websites for him, and to type up his replies is obviously misrepresenting information to him at the moment. perhaps he didn't use enough lube last night and the kid (literally) has the arse with him...

Why do people keep calling it "Obamacare" when it really should be called "Romneycare"?

Maybe because Obama forced it on the entire US and Romney passed it on to just one State? And, is it identical to Romneycare? If not, then, maybe it shouldn't be called Romneycare?

No one here doesn't know Romney was a Republican governor of Massachusetts when this passed. Der.

The Mass. legislature, however, wasn't even close to being Republican. The Senate was 34-6 (D-R) and the House was 139-20-1 (D-R-I). Romney vetoed 8 parts of their health care law when signing it, but 6 of those were overturned almost immediately, and the other 2 were eventually overturned, too.

To say Romneycare was a GOP plan is factually disingenuous.
