Yes, what happens is I post as Peon, then - so that the IP addresses look right - zip from the UK across the world to Australia to post within the same hour as Tweakabelle. This is possible because, being British, I have access to a Tardis.

I have to agree with Tweakabelle, old chap. You're a fruitcake.

Two thoughts on safe spaces:

(a) In a university setting, I would distinguish between a classroom and a support group of self-selected students exploring a commonality and the challenges of being in a larger setting that isn't always user-friendly.

(b) In looking down at those seeking safe spaces, I suspect many of us conveniently forget our own: circles of like-minded friends, munches, 12 Step meetings, church communities, country clubs, support/therapy groups, poker games, bachelor/ette parties, HOAs, and those oak-paneled dining rooms where wealthy WASP men ran the world after the ladies had withdrawn.

Fuking idiots - one day one of you will surprise me

Good point. And presumably, in all those spaces, everybody should be ready and eager to have amongst them a raving atheist, or a neo-nazi, or a Bible-thumping anti-anything-that-isn't-straight frothing priest, a KKK member, an Islamic fundamentalist ... or get some berk invoking Voltaire and lecturing them all about how free-thinking America is about to die because, in fact, they'd rather not give such types a warm and happy welcome.

It needn't even be a lunatic. I know, for instance, that some folks have very strong views on the failings/evils of Western medicine or how people's ailments stem from lifestyle choices. They totally have the right to voice them. But I think that participants in, say, a chemo support group also have the right to say, "We respect your views, but this gathering isn't the appropriate forum for airing them."

Dismissing a position out of hand is far easier than actually having a rational discussion about it's merits. This is and has been your intellectually dishonest position in most of your posts. That is why we simply note that:
Jesus you are phoquing stupid.

On the other hand, he's always very vehement in what he says - this you can see by the way he says 'fucking' and 'shit' a lot. People who are really vehement just must be right, no?

http://www.seekfind.net/Logical_Fallacy_of_Argument_by_Vehemence.html#.WBSC3SSHMcM

While I do not shout I do use graphic profanity and vulgarisms in response to those "punkassmotherfuckers" who use assaultive language to me. If I disagree with another poster I will deliniate my disagreement with validation from reputable sources. When proved wrong I admit it and thank the poster for disabusing me of my ignorance. I have been proved wrong in less than a half dozen cases with more than 20,000 post.

Who's this "us" you're talking about? You now think you speak for everyone else.

In this particular case she echos my thoughts on this matter. It is a pretty sure bet that she is including peon.

Including me?

You clearly speak for yourself. If you had a better grasp on the english language you would be "aware" of the "royal we".

You have no idea what I think, you are - as usual - letting your own irrational thoughts run away with you.

We absolutely do have a very good idea of what you think from the numerous post which show your ignorance. such as mentioned above.

All I've done is school you and Peon.

You have "schooled" no one nor have you taught anyone anything except the depth of your ignorance and the breadth of your arrogance.

You're a pair of fucking frauds - something which should be blatantly clear to anyone who's followed your ramblings.

That would be your ignorant, unsubstianted opinion. Until you can validate it it will remain your opinion which has been pointed out, on more than one occasion, to be worth less than the price of used shit paper.

More precisely I think you're the same fraud. At least one of you is a sock.

Once again your command of the lexicon is showing it's lack of depth. Perhaps you might get one of the teachers at school to explain the internal conflict contained in your statement.

Ye Gods, I've spanked you so hard and made you look like an assclown so effectively that your butthurt is going to extend for months, possibly years. Priceless!!! [:D]

That would be opinion unsupported by facts.
Jesus you are phoquing stupid.

sovereignsays -> RE: Cultural appropriation? (10/29/2016 1:34:06 PM)

My, my. How stoked were you when these boards became unmoderated?

You take issue with safe spaces because you'd like to be able to abuse people at your leisure. The fact that people have the option of muting you so to speak, really burns your toast. No one is obligated to make themselves a vessel for your impotent, ignorant rage.

sovereignsays -> RE: Cultural appropriation? (10/29/2016 1:43:21 PM)

You stated an opinion; not an occurrence. How could I invalidate an experience you never presented?

You refer to "lefties" as intolerant and dismiss safe spaces and micro aggressions as "whiny creations". Your irony is right there. The fact that you're here shows a need for the former, does it not? You couldn't be on the receiving end of the latter but, that doesn't make it imaginary.

Forget about it, Thompson. Everyone's used to the way you write. You write in bolds - me, I don't even see bolds any more when I look at your posts. And you deliberately water down your 'fuckings' by writing them as 'phoquings'. It's not the same. You take the piss out of yourself. Awareness does not - and would never do so. *Could* never do so. Awareness is much too *angry* at the *failings of everyone around him* to do that.

Awareness likes to write in as ugly a fashion as he can. He likes to repulse people. Why he does this - I'm not yet entirely sure, though I think I'm getting there. Probably, it's partly to do with the collection of horseshit theories he's put together about how 'Alphas' act. (Collected together from various bits of biology about wolves, chimps and gorillas he's seen around the Net.) Alphas *don't care* what other people think of them. He knows this.

I suspect it also has something to do with the fact that he has a strong urge to impress his wife with just how dominant he is - and his wife is reading this forum. He's a rather short, very fat, probably not at all healthy, and not highly-educated man ... so he has to *strive*. Oh god, does he have to win, albeit only on this silly forum ....

Christ. I don't get male dominants, sometimes. I feel like saying, 'Look, chill. You *don't* have to win everything, just to impress your blancmange-brained femsub. That is the short route to heart problems and an early grave - an early grave that is all too common for we males. And, for what? What the *feck* is it worth?'

Is it just me or is there something ironic about citing logical fallacies in an ad hominem attack?

To draw attention to the fact that Awareness is "always very vehement in what he says" is not an ad hominem attack. It is an observation of fact that describes Awareness' posting style, amply supported by the evidence of Awareness' own posts. It's more about Awareness' posting style than anything else. Peon's position is validated by a defence of accurate representation of fact. So there is no irony of the type you are suggesting.

Or alternatively, to answer your question directly, it might just be you. Only you really knows the answer to that.

Nu uh. Fact doesn't nullify the ad hominem.

Someone could attack me for my position on, say, current fashion trends by 'factually' stating 'Someone born as long ago as 19** just might know about modern fashion, yes?'

Any time an argument is addressed at a person it is almost certainly an ad hominem fallacy.

That makes no sense, Curmudgeonly1. You just don't know what an 'ad hominem' is.

Two thoughts on safe spaces:

Advocates of safe spaces don't distinguish between the two. It is their contention that the classroom should function as a support group so students don't have their prejudices challenged.

So you think a collection of like-minded individuals who associate by choice is somehow equivalent to a howling mob demanding academic censorship of ideas that offend their delicate sensibilities? Really?

*chuckle* Peon, when it comes to trying to get a rise out of someone, you're a rank amateur.

The problem, Nancy, is that I don't care. Whereas you're held captive by the opinion of every woman around you. Your entire life is focused on gaining their approval. I pity you. I don't have sympathy for you, because you've made this bed and now you have to lie in it. But I do pity you.
