It has been said before, but I'll say it anyways:

Not all people who voted for Trump are racist, but I am certain that all racists voted for Trump.

However, the rust belt win (which was the reason he won the election) wasn't about racism, it was about striking back at the globalists who have stolen their jobs (because they can't strike back at the machines who have stolen their jobs)... it was most certainly an oversight on Hillary's part, but it was also probably because Obama didn't do enough to help them and they lost faith in the Democrats. It doesn't matter if you're historically pro-union/pro-worker's rights if there are no jobs. These people don't want handouts or welfare, they want their dignity back.

The thing is, they're going to find out really soon that Trump can't help them either, and will in fact make it worse... so I really have to wonder what comes next for them. It's actually really sad-- they turned to a fascist, apparently oblivious to the fact that he's a complete fraud.

Maybe the public works programs Trump is promising will help them... I mean, he is taking a page directly from the Nazi handbook with that, and it did a lot of good in terms of giving the German people their dignity back. Bannon will stoke up the nationalism for them... but the crippling effect Trump's economic policies will have on the rest of country seem destined to make it really short-lived... where is he going to get the money to fund public works if the US is isolating itself from the rest of the world?

Old people like to think of America as it was immediately after WWII-- when it had a lot of untouched resources, Europe was in ruins, and the rest of the world needed to be rebuilt. That gave the US a huge economic advantage, but last time I checked there hasn't been a global war recently, so I have no idea why other countries would put up with Trump's bullshit when they can just turn to some other country and get everything they need more cheaply.

China is already looking to rise up to fill the void and the US will decline even faster than it's already declining.

The fact that plenty of LGBT Trump supporters exist is completely irrelevant to her -- as is the fact that Trump has never actually said anything that can realistically be construed to be an attack on the LGBT community's safety.

Mason then gives a litany of examples that -- she feels -- proves her point, and then offers some suggestions, including one of my pet peeves:

Frankly, what movies was she watching?

The Captain America characters of Steve Rogers and Bucky Barnes illustrate a level of straight male bonding that the left repeatedly blasts men for not having -- while at the same time claiming any examples of such bonding must be homoerotic.

Mason continues in her absolute ignorance:

If you’re worried about alienating people or scaring away the audience -- don’t. Those are the very people that need to be confronted with different viewpoints and stories, who need to be uncomfortable. I won’t say those people don’t matter because they do, but what matters is changing their minds.

No. What matters is getting people to actually watch these shows. After a long day of work, if you try to make people uncomfortable rather than entertain them, they'll find something else to do with their precious free time.

What Mason misses the most, however, isn't the stupid argument regarding popular culture or even geek culture needing to be confronted. No, what she misses the most is that crap like this is what got Trump elected.

Millions of Americans are tired of being stereotyped as hateful and violent. They're tired of the Social Justice Warrior crusade to ram ideology down people's throats.

Mason's gay-only demand takes this idiocy to a whole new level. Now it's not just about normalizing certain groups, but about punishing those who dared to disagree.

Luckily, I suspect even Hollywood is smart enough to ignore such a ludicrous request.
