Well Trump just said he'll be 'Phasing that out' in his 60 Minutes interview. So hopefully he'll put an end to that eventually. It's probably hard to do when everyone involved is bought and paid for.

Let's hope so...along with a few more
recent innovtions.

Both candidates played to win using the Electoral College. If there were no Electoral College, the campaigns would have been different - for instance no candidate would have campaigned in the Midwest at all. Clinton got more popular votes but that's like saying that the Atlanta Falcons should have won the football game because they had more time of possession.

I am not sure why we have the system set up the way it is nor whom it protects - but right now that's the game the candidates play.

Yes you do know, you just didn't know you knew.
The purpose of the Electoral College is so the smaller states won't be ignored.

Can't be done. Won't be done.

It's gonna take a lot longer than a 60 minute interview to wipe all that bullshit out.

If Hillary lost the popular vote and won the electoral vote, her supporters would be fine with it. You can’t protest a system only when you lose.

Interestingly, the EC has never chosen a Democratic president who hadn't won the popular vote.

It's only done that for Republicans: Hayes, B. Harrison, Bush 43, Trump.

Amazing that you didn't know that Lincoln only had about 40% of the popular vote. Also that in 1824 Jackson got both the most popular votes but also the most Electoral votes, the same system provides that if no one get a majority of the Electoral vote the house chooses the president, the chose John Quincy Adams, and there was no Republican party at that time. The College was not a Republican plot, it predates that party by 60 years.

Actually, that is only one of the reasons it was created. It serves more than one purpose.

Yes, but it primarily prevents one part on the country from being able to rule with out considering the concerns of other regions. That didn't happen in 1860 and we all know how that worked out.

He still won more popular votes than anyone else in the race. So 1860 has nothing to do with my point about Republicans who took office with fewer popular votes than anyone in the same race.

I know this story. It's a fascinating bit of history but has no bearing on the examples I cited.

Parhaps Trump was right, the elections are rigged. Al Gore won more votes than George Bush and Hillary Clinton won more votes in the Popular Votes process. The Popular Vote represents the true winner. One person, one vote. Whoever gets the most votes, wins. Its that simple. The current system does need an overhaul. Do away with the Electoral College process and actually make elections fair and square.
If your pantsuit won, you wouldn't have a problem with the electoral college.

Why are so many of you people so depressingly, fucking stupid.

Ah yes, the welfare state terrorists. Good point. Should have enslaved those welfare states and been done with it. They did not consider other regions, and they got their riotous treasonous ass kicked.

But is and was an artifact of the welfare states slavery plot. I don't believe JFK got the popular vote either, but may be mistaken.

This is an excellent commentary on the Electoral College. Showsw the relationship between large cities and the rest of the country in voting.

The reason that the Constitution calls for this extra layer, rather than just providing for the direct election of the president, is that most of the nation’s founders were actually rather afraid of democracy. James Madison worried about what he called “factions,” which he defined as groups of citizens who have a common interest in some proposal that would either violate the rights of other citizens or would harm the nation as a whole.

In conjunction with 26% of people who are eligible to vote, voted. And 26% voted for monster and 26% bint.

Both statements argue against democracy existing and the electoral college system shenanigans.

Why so wicked? Someone who commands 26% of the votes got in

It has been speculated that if it was a direct election then more Trump supporters may have voted in the blue states. I agree.

It is also possible that more Hillary supporters may have vote in the red states.

No, the biggest crook is Nixon (to date) Yeah, on the other probably not, its the same old tired shit nutsuckers have been saying for years when they lose.
