I wouldn't feel safe at all if a person was in a public space dressed like that... no. I would't feel safe with someone walking into a bank i was banking in wearing a ski mask either. If you think there's something wrong with that... well... tough shit. I value my own personal safety more than i value some stranger's 'right' to conceal themselves. It's a public safety & security issue.

Take someone's advice to you in another thread and learn to read rather than rely on biased rants for your information. The author is talking about wearing a scarf on her head. That's it. Nothing covering her face. No big black sheet coveting her head to toe. A freakin' scarf.

Well i'm talking about the picture above.

Why would you not feel safe if a person walked into a bank wearing the hijab ? Because there is the chance that he/she may have a bomb concealed underneath it ? Does nobody where you bank wear an overcoat in the cooler weather ? Nobody carries a briefcase ? Nobody has a coat with patch pockets.

20 or 30 pounds of plastique can easily be hidden under an overcoat or in a briefcase. a couple of hand grenades or similar can easily be hidden in that patch pockets of a navy watchcoat

It sounds like we are going back to the 60s when one side of society tried to tell the other side how to act, speak and dress. Leave 'em alone and let 'em dress as they wish. The vast majority have no harm in 'em.

Because they can't be identified. I am pretty sure that banks wouldn't allow that dress in their building.

Dvr22999874 -> RE: American Muslim Woman Crying about her right to wear Hijab (11/18/2016 4:58:39 PM)

wouldn't allow WHAT dress ? The hijab ??? That might cause legal problems in this country. Or in the U.S. too, come to think of is.

Or the overcoat et al ? Both could be as potentially dangerous as each other. Maybe have everybody strip off outside and wear paper coveralls into the bank ?

How do Americans have the courage to leave the house *at all* these days? You step out of the door ... there's a woman in a hijab. Obviously an Islamic bomber. You walk a few paces - there's a white bloke who's gone out with a view to killing everyone around him because everyone around him is a black/Jew/commie/terrorist/schoolkid who dissed him. All of these people will be packing guns, the better to facilitate whatever murderous impulse they happen to have concocted in their stupid, insane brains. Just stay at home and feast yourself on TV programmes that tell you just how free you are, living in America as you do.

Legal problems? It's a business. You do business with them on their terms... or go elsewhere.

You obviously don't live here. We're not afraid of each other... but i would be afraid of anyone walking around in public spaces concealing their identity.

Dvr22999874 -> RE: American Muslim Woman Crying about her right to wear Hijab (11/18/2016 5:04:53 PM)

Hear,Hear Peon....................................... But don't forget that woman with the shopping bag...............she could have a nail-bomb in there, as could the schoolgirl with the back-pack and is that cop in the car REALLY a cop or is he a disguised drive-by killer ? What about that guy who LOOKS like a postman ? I wonder what he REALLY has in that bag ? Maybe sarin for the water supply ????

Yes folks, I am being ridiculous and taking this to the Nth degree, but aren't a few others on here doing exactly the same ?

Dvr22999874 -> RE: American Muslim Woman Crying about her right to wear Hijab (11/18/2016 5:06:19 PM)

If your beliefs dictate that you should wear certain clothing, that may just overrule that 'go elsewhere' bit tamaka

Dvr22999874 -> RE: American Muslim Woman Crying about her right to wear Hijab (11/18/2016 5:07:48 PM)

Anybody who wears any kind of uniform, conceals their true identity to a certain degree. They BECOME that uniform and if a witness is asked, that uniform is usually all they saw; NOT the person inside it.

I think if the 'Pythons' were still around, they could have a ball fitting a sketch around this thread Peon...................or even Milligan, Sellers and Seccombe !!

Like I said, read the article. Greta has put a misleading picture up showing the most extreme style of dress that MuslIm women might wear. Which is entirely irrelevant because it is not what the author is talking about. Greta went for shock effect knowing that some people wouldn't bother to look past it for the truth.

Trust me... if Muslim women started walking around my town dressed like that... there would be issues.

Lucylastic -> RE: American Muslim Woman Crying about her right to wear Hijab (11/18/2016 6:34:09 PM)

Well we aren't talking about "if". We are talking about people being made to feel afraid of doing these things, things which are within their rights as citizens to do, things that they have been doing all along. And we are talking about someone thousands of miles away trying to shame them for wanting to do these things, someone who is a stranger to them and their land expressing their disgust for them exercising their rights within their own country. That's what we are actually talking about. What are your views on the actual topic?

My views on that is they can do whatever they want in their own country. If that's what they want to do. I feel bad if the women over there are oppressed. I am sure there is a mix... some women love it, some hate it. But that's their problem. Maybe they need a Savior...
