ORIGINAL: thompsonx ORIGINAL: bounty44 a small handful of the most populated states would contain close to enough votes to determine the results for the whole country. One more comrade who does not believe in one person one vote our president could end up being chosen by virtue of the amount of leftie/liberal/socialist/communists/progressives/collectivists/felons/whatever, that live in California, new York, Illinois and one or two other heavily populated states. heck there are probably more lefties in California than there are conservatives in 20 of the least populated states. Just about 40 percent of the "leftie, liberal, communist, progressive, collectivist, felons" in illinois and california voted for trumph dumbass. Jesus ytou are phoquing stupid. I believe in the rule of law/method prescribed by the constitution troll. what you said has absolutely no bearing either on that, or on what I said. comrade: "a fellow socialist or communist"---yeah, if this is the bizarro world from Seinfeld, sure im that. I have no idea what youre on about in your last "point." apart from that your numbers are off by quite a bit (32% and 38%), try this: in 2012 Obama beat Romney by ~5 million popular votes. the margin of victory for Obama in California, NY, and IL respectively was 3 million, 2 million, and .9 million, which is 5.9 million more votes just within those three states. in theory then, Romney would have won the popular vote in every other state in the country, not made up the .9 million vote deficit, and still lost the popular vote by virtue of those three states being amongst the most populous and left leaning. add in another couple highly populated left leaning states and you could end up, if we went with a "popular election" with just a handful of states tipping the election one way. get it now? http://uselectionatlas.org/RESULTS/national.php?year=2016&off=0&elect=0&f=0 interesting bit of information to know: quote:
As of April 1, 2010, the date of the 2010 United States Census, the nine most populous U.S. states contain slightly more than half of the total population. The 25 least populous states contain less than one-sixth of the total population. California, the most populous state, contains more people than the 21 least populous states combined. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_U.S._states_and_territories_by_population oh and this: quote:
