Honestly... pretty much all of it is just emotional nonsense with little substance.

Well, then again I must admit that is an accurate description of most of Trump's entire campaign content.

Yet he won, Hillary lost, get over it.

Hillary Clinton's national popular vote lead now stands at 1.677 million votes or a 1.3 percentage point margin.

Which is totally irrelevant.

Yes...but it is a fact.
I only stated a fact. Not its relevance or opinion
I know you have trouble with facts, but there ya go.

Not entirely. It indicates that "America rallied around Trump" is a false narrative and that he has no "mandate."

It also offers reassurance that our fellow Americans aren't complete morons.

Or just cranky that someone spotted your demographic being special snowflakes? After all, everyone knows that "safe spaces" are just for weak, PC, identity-driven groups who aren't tough enough to take free speech.
Why? Are you all butthurt because you thought your demographic had a lock on the special snowflake thing?

Trump interprets it as disrespect to the office - and it is. If a white cast did the same thing to Obama, you and your cronies would be screaming blue murder about racism. Your endless hypocrisy is the quintessential reason why the Democrats got the shit kicked out of them in this election and are staring down the barrel of losing more senators come the mid-terms.

Despite his multiple failures of policy, the uproar - if someone bailed up Obama publicly and said "Your unchecked expansion of the surveillance state and your acquiescence to murder by drone is a both a betrayal of the American people and a violation of international law" - would be astonishing. You fuckers would be losing your fucking minds.

So yeah. Being gay doesn't entitle you to be a fucking hypocrite - no matter what your pandering Leftist friends might tell you.

What was really ironic/hypocritical (I think) was that the actor that delivered the message used the words: "diverse Americans" when he was employed in a play that used the words: "white actors need not apply" in their casting call.

I guess "diverse" has come to mean: no whites? To be sure, there are a couple (I think "two", literally) of white actors in the play, but that wasn't the original intent.

Well, at least the Pablum-pukers are being a little bit more open about their racism.

Some day, people of color may wake up and see it for themselves. Then, the democratic party is truly finished.

It wasn't even disrespectful, but if anything it was an appeal to Trump and Pence not to be as shitty as they promised to be during their election campaign. I refuse to believe that even someone as aggressively hateful as yourself would think that this was some sort of attack on the American political system (not that such a thing wouldn't also be justified at this point). Even though America elected a fascist, their society hasn't descended into fascism yet and the president isn't a god emperor who demands or deserves unconditional admiration and respect.

And the idea that America elected Trump because everyone thinks the left is annoying and stupid is laughably childish. This was about economic anxieties in the rust belt, Hillary's reputation and fear of immigrants was maybe a very distant third. I don't even think hatred of annoying lefties would be a major issue with anyone but the dumbest of the dumb... but I can tell you're getting a real charge over saying it, so it's not like any of this is going to register.

It's always nice to use events that didn't happen to prove how right you are, but I can't believe that anyone would argue that the surveillance state and the use of drones wouldn't have also expanded under any other president at this point in history. It's an uncomfortable reality caused by technological progress in a time of war, and Mr. Torture-the-hell-out-of-them isn't going to change a thing about it.

On the other hand, Trump didn't NEED to campaign on a platform that incited violence, racism, bigotry and hatred... he just did it because he liked the reaction it got. Now that he won, he's going to have to deal with the fallout for the next 4 years.

The Only 'pollster' who correctly predicted the Electoral College victory is also predicting Trump will be impeached by the Republican Congress within a year (or less), because of gross stupidity, Very 'un-Right policy decisions, or obscene personal conduct. Or all of the above. In which case they have the ideal cooperative stable and predictable boy in office, Pence.

Well, to be fair, the impeachment prediction wasn't quite as well-considered as the victory prediction.

I honestly don't know what will happen... but since he is possibly the most unpopular candidate in history, has no experience, his own party hates him, he will be unable to deliver on his promises without ruining the economy and won't be able to give the rust belt what he promised to give them, I can't see him lasting more than 4 years.

The only way he'll get another 8 years is if something extremely big happens (a nuclear attack on a major city, with Muslim refugees being indisputably responsible), practically every single legitimate economist is wrong, the country breaks apart completely and he declares martial law on or around election day and beyond, or he reveals himself to be a lizard person after all and the population of earth is enslaved.

Like you did over Obama winning in 2008 and 2012, you mean?
The board archives are still there, and show you throwing a histrionic tantrum before leaving in a snit.
There may be rightards on here who are in a position to tell anybody here to get over an election result they didn't like, but you're not one of them. You didn't accept an election result you disapproved of yourself or show an elected President with a D after his name any respect, so you have no moral authority to complain about anybody else behaving as you did.

Yep. It is. The question is whether Trump's lack of respect for the office justifies your own. Let me see if I can understand you. You hate and fear this guy, claim he's a racist, misogynist who hates gay people, Latinos and Muslims.... but you're going to let him set the standard for your own behaviour.

In other words, where Trump leads, you're going to follow.

What's wrong with this picture?

Michael
The Democratic party is finished RIGHT NOW. People of color, women who vote with their vagina and the LGBTQWXYZ community are insufficient to get you elected. The Democratic Party's betrayal of its working class base has fatally wounded its ability to compete.

Sanders is progressive as fuck and believes in some causes which I think are nonsense (pay equity for women and so on), but I'll take him over any other politician simply because he has a fundamental desire to do the right thing and create a government for the people.

mnottertail -> RE: Who Needs a Safe Space Now? (11/21/2016 6:34:32 AM)

No, not illegal because they didn't do that.

You know, bounty, I'm gonna agree with you on this one. There's a lot that we "urban elites" don't get:

-- We don't get why a vote cast in Wyoming counts more than one cast in California or New York. We don't get why a state should be penalized for being vibrant enough to attract a large population.
It's the United States of America and the founders distrusted the idea of Federal government. You're complaining about the Constitution? The document which provides protection for minorities? Because it's providing protection for a minority you don't agree with?

See, this demonstrates what I've said all along. Minorities are no more virtuous than anyone else. Given power, they also try and oppress other minorities. Gay people are every bit as big a bunch of assholes as everyone else.

quote:

-- We don't get why "rugged individualism" and "pulling yourselves up by your bootstraps" apply to all poor folks except white Republicans.
I must've missed all those poor white families in the Southern states who were getting massive amounts of government aid - could you point some out for me?

quote:

-- We don't get how "family values" are served by arguing for dissolving the marriages that hold many of our families together and threatening to shatter immigrant families through mass deportations.
So you think the borders should be porous and the United States should spend an increasing amount of its dwindling tax base on supporting leeches who've entered the country illegally do you? How nice of you to decide how everyone would like their tax dollars spent.

quote:

-- We don't get why folks cheered when an elected official in Kentucky decided that her personal interpretation of God's will trumped the law of the land and the duties of her office.
You don't understand why folks cheer an elected official but you think people who won't listen to your elitist lecturing are unreasonable. Tell me, when does the 'thinking' part of this diatribe commence?

quote:

-- We don't get how people turn a cheerful "Happy Holidays" from a retail clerk into an assault on their faith. We don't get the assumption that Christmas is the only holiday that counts in a season full of them.
There's been a general assault on Christianity throughout the US from liberal types who like to cozy up to Islam. The elimination of any sentiment which makes an overt reference to Christianity is an example. People tend to dislike social engineering, so why the fuck are you trying to defend it with such self-righteous fervor?

quote:

-- We don't get why Rust Belt folk argue that they, and only they, should be exempt from the laws of economics.
What the fuck are you talking about?

quote:

-- We don't get why a party that has spent decades telling us not to trust the government is now surprised and offended that we're reluctant to trust Trump and Pence.
From memory, the GOP doesn't trust "big government", but I'm not the expert on their platform. And it's not your reluctance to trust that's at issue, it's your crying like a bunch of spoilt children which is the problem. I mean, really - your fucking pantsuit doesn't get elected and the amount of fucking whining emanating from Leftist crybabies is truly pathetic - it confirms what I've been saying which is that your obsession with victim-hood and safe spaces is turning out a bunch of fucking pseudo-adults who are simply not equipped to cope with the real world.

You. Are. Pathetic.

quote:

-- We don't get how we're expected to "come together" with Americans who chose to support a man who spent the whole campaign demonizing vast groups of people.
So apparently you're now so stupid you can't see your own hypocrisy. You're the ones who've spent decades demonising anyone white, male and heterosexual and now you're wondering why they didn't "come together" and vote with you?

Here's a news flash. You're not coming together with the rest of America, because you're a bunch of fucking cunts. Try not being such an asshole and see if that works a little better than your current "You white male, cis, heterosexuals are all pieces of shit" approach.

And try thinking about this one. 4 and 8 years ago, the SAME AMERICA voted in a liberal Black President. So were they racist, misogynist pieces of shit, then? Or did everyone suddenly change overnight?

quote:

-- We don't get how struggling red staters have decided that their salvation lies in a billionaire who lives in a gold-plated Manhattan triplex and is notorious for stiffing those for work for him.
As opposed to a multi-millionaire who cozies up to corporations and owes favours to other billionaires. Yeah, you're right, I don't know what they were thinking. Why would they choose the billionaire over the corrupt liar? It boggles the mind.

quote:

-- We don't get why we're expected to respect and understand Americans who have no interest in respecting or understanding us.
You've been pandered to for far too long. You don't give respect which is why you don't get it. You're a lecturing, hectoring babble of self-appointed experts on every subject in the world - especially those which you have no fucking clue about.

quote:

-- We don't get how "patriots" rally round a guy who calls for jailing his political opponents and muzzling the press.
Oh, that's easy. The Press is corrupt and people know it. And politics is dominated by an oligarchy and the people know it. You're wondering why they're rallying around an outsider who rails against those things which bother them? What do you need, a fucking picture drawn for you?

quote:

-- We don't get how anyone can see the eruptions of hatred since the election and not find them disquieting.
Because they're utter bullshit. Many of them are fake and there's no evidence there's been an increase in "hatred" unless you've been monitoring it all along. They don't document an increase, they just document occurrences. All this means is, the Leftist press is suddenly paying attention to these stories and trying to use them to build a narrative. Because the Press is hopelessly corrupt.

quote:

-- We don't get how folks who've spent the last eight years being as obstructionist as possible, including denying a highly qualified Supreme Court nominee even the courtesy of a hearing, now have the gall to lecture us about the need to "support" the president-elect.
I'll give you this one. The GOP are comprehensively full of shit. Their lack of progress and obstructionism over the last 8 years is an appalling betrayal of their responsibility to govern.

quote:

Yep, there's plenty we don't get about the U.S. of A. these days.
Pull your head out of your ass, you'll start to understand it more... but only if you stop telling yourselves how much better than everyone else you are.
