It is very strange that the right doesn't embrace Islam, they love all the same things, oil, machoism, religion. Minor theological differences separate the two...

Minor?

Everyone breathing conscious person has a 'religion', the devil is in the details.

I 'rely' upon food, clothing and shelter. is or are 'they' my 'religion ?'

the objects are not your religion the principles most likely are, maybe, depends. thats not the usual arena to discuss religion, but it certainly can extend to that point.

here I will give you an example. Not eating pork, that is part of a religion.

If the state came along and said no one is allowed to eat pork but you are a really smart guy and say, hey man I cook it well done, my religion allows me to eat pork. You 'believe' it is safe if properly cooked, therefore it is another source of food for you despite you stand alone among the hordes who do not eat pork that are condemning you for eating it.

The key with religion is that as your 'religion', it is your belief, YOU choose 'your' path, not the 'states belief' that chooses your path, In religion you have the choice to eat or not eat pork, as a law you have no choice, you are no longer free to choose anything but the state prescribed religion. (religion in this case)

Religion = do your thing, do no harm.
State = Do their thing harm to the 49% not withstanding.

No surprise statists waged countless wars against all religions in favor of the one shoe fits all state.

Does make me think, why not require all food sold in the US to be at least 1% pork? Muslim problem solved. Vegans might be pissed, but they'll get over it. To those that question the possibility, I say bacon bits, they can be added to anything, and that anything will be better. Embedding fresh fruit and vegetables with bacon bits may cause some issues, but it may be better to deal with those...

Dunno about bacon bits in my apple pie and custard! lol.
Or my lemon meringue.

Just announce the truth to all the Muslims: most medicines contain, or are encapsulated in, or coated in, products containing pork and other animal fats.
A lot of the machinery used in the manufacturing processes are lubricated with products containing animal fats.

That'll please the vegans too!

ETA: the company that manufactures the polymer for use in plastic bank notes also uses traces of such fats and they export to 23 countries using plastic money.

Those of us who are neither Jewish nor Muslim but still refuse to eat the flesh of the filthy swine wouldn't be too in love with that idea.

FD, most medicines use fish gelatin. The marshmallows I buy use it, also.

I have no issue with animal fats. I have a problem with filthy swine. I like me a good lobster (so, I can't claim to "keep Kosher").

Perhaps just all non-fruit/vegetable is more feasible, though carbs like pie crusts would have to have some pork grease at least for this to work...

From Wiki (and other sites): Gelatin or gelatine (from Latin: gelatus meaning "stiff", "frozen") is a translucent, colorless, brittle (when dry), flavorless food derived from collagen obtained from various animal raw materials. It is commonly used as a gelling agent in food, pharmaceutical drugs, photography, and cosmetic manufacturing... It is found in most gummy candy, as well as other products such as marshmallows, gelatin desserts, and some ice creams, dips, and yogurts.
....
Gelatin is a mixture of peptides and proteins produced by partial hydrolysis of collagen extracted from the skin, bones, and connective tissues of animals such as domesticated cattle, chicken, pigs, and fish.
....
On a commercial scale, gelatin is made from by-products of the meat and leather industries. Recently, fish by-products also have been considered suitable because they eliminate some of the religious obstacles surrounding gelatin consumption.[3] Gelatin is derived from pork skins, pork, and cattle bones, or split cattle hides.

Although fish extracts are considered and may be used, most places I've read actually use animal extracts rather than fish (generally) and I think it is a misnomer to claim that 'most' medicines use the fish variety.
Even if fish extract is listed, how sure are you that it is only fish and no animal products?
Given the lack of food and product labeling in the US compared to other countries, I don't think I could assume that all the gelatin used in a product is fish and only fish and nothing else even when it states it is fish gelatin.

As you can see, 44% is pig skin and only 1% is "other" which would also include fish extract.
Given the massive number of medical applications, candy, and cosmetics in use, I'd say that a purely fish collagen extract is going to be extremely minimal.

Non of this negates that there are pills made for people who eat Kosher or Hal-Al. I know this for a fact because my pills are ALL fish gelatin and they aren't that hard to find.

I haven't eaten swine (voluntarily) in so long that, two years ago, when someone fucked up and put chopped bacon in my soup (who the fuck puts bacon in CLAM FREAKIN" CHOWDER?!?!?!?!), I threw up, projectile-style. I made sure the cook that fucked up the order was made to clean it up (The owner is a friend). So, I KNOW when there's some filthy swine in anything that goes into my body.
