ORIGINAL: Kaliko I do understand why women would feel safer with a female driver. What I (and some others here) have most issue with is not that, but rather that men don't have the same types of options available to them for whatever they feel they need. Not without someone coming along and saying something like "What the fuck - macho men shouldn't be feeling that way," at least. I get that. I do. On the flip side of that, there is currently a thread about how male rape doesn't get the attention it deserves, with some posters - several female - stating that its this macho man expectation-'men don't cry', 'take it like a man'-that prevents males from reporting sexual violations. Only to have someone - male- come on and defend the 'no crying, take it like a man', and try to blame men not reporting crimes as something else. Don't see many men over there arguing against that, only 'feminists'. And rm spent several pages of that thread attacking feminists and not saying a damn thing about the topic itself. Even when posters were making points about how men were not treated fairly, ignored in favor of women, rm would come back and attack them. So what you pointed out may very well be the best topic in the world for discussion, but rm has proven he doesn't want to discuss. He just wants to bitch about women. Topics lose credibility simply by virtue of being posted by him. And that's no one's fault but his. People have tried. And even though it will not make any difference to him, let me point out that I am not really a feminist. As far as activism goes, I should probably have my woman card revoked. I just cannot tolerate malicious stupidity.
