More money for the economy. More money to hire more people. Less money for the goverment. Sounds like a rational plan.

Because we all know that trickle down works and anyone who says it doesn't is just a big unemployed loser.

I forgot Americans are slow at counting och well 6th of January or something

i was reading, no idea how true this is

Rump will end up with 304 electoral votes, well over the 270 he needs. Only two Trump electors defected from him, with one voting for John Kasich and the other for Ron Paul.

Hillary Clinton ended up losing more electors. Though not all the electoral votes from Clinton states have been counted yet, four of Washington state’s 12 Democratic electors refused to vote for her. Instead, three voted for former Secretary of State Colin Powell and one for Faith Spotted Eagle, an activist involved in protesting the Dakota Access Pipeline.

Three other electors attempted to defect from Clinton in other states, but two were replaced by alternates, with the other changing his mind on a revote:

In Minnesota, Sanders-supporting Democratic elector Muhammad Abdurrahman reportedly refused to cast a vote, so according to state law, he was replaced with an alternate who did vote for Clinton.
In Maine, Democratic elector David Bright voted for Bernie Sanders at first, but his vote was ruled out of order, and he switched it to Clinton during a revote.
In Colorado, Democratic elector Michael Baca attempted to cast his vote for John Kasich (as part of the failed scheme to convince Trump electors to back a moderate Republican), but he was dismissed and replaced by an alternate, who voted for Clinton.
Theoretically, legal challenges could be launched related to some of these electoral votes, since the constitutionality of state laws binding electors has never truly been tested in the courts. But at least for the time being, they’re set to count for Clinton.

So...will the budding pact among states render the EC powerless?

Since an Amendment seems unlikely to pass.

If Hillary had won the electoral vote and Trump the popular, every Democrat in the US would be bragging about how the Electoral College is the smartest thing our forefathers ever did.

Once again, you know nothing.

If Democrats had been behind Hilary, she'd be president now. For example, Trump won Michigan by 10,000 votes, while 90,000 people voted for other offices but not for president.

Had Hilary won, I'd be part of the people working to restrain her, just as I am for Trump.

They were both incredibly sucky choices.

I'd imagine somebody decided that if she's allowed the nomination this time, and loses because the whole of the American right, most of the American centre, and almost all of the American left hates her, then she'll refrain from muddying the waters again the next time they're nominating a Presidential candidate. Quite sensible on those terms, when you look at the aggravation she and her krewe (particularly its more or less deniable scapegoat-y members) caused Obama back in '08.

Musicmystery -> RE: Tis Electoral college Vote Eve (12/20/2016 9:30:28 AM)

My guess is they've learned nothing. We'll see.

You reckon now's a good time to start selling your stocks and then wait for the market to crash to buy some more, then?

Musicmystery -> RE: Tis Electoral college Vote Eve (12/20/2016 12:14:47 PM)

Actually, I do.
