ORIGINAL: jlf1961 quote:
ORIGINAL: tamaka It's not over yet. Too early for a judgement call. Actually, humanity has reached a tipping point. Due to excessive non-agricultural water use, lack of significant rain and snow fall, three of the largest aquifers in the US are rapidly becoming depleted. Then there are areas that due to excessive irrigation, the soil is less able to produce crops, such as the central California valley, and the expanding dead zones have brought back a blast from the past, valley fever. In very simple terms, we have polluted and over used the planet to the point that recovery may be impossible, and thus, even without a nuclear war, humans may very well become extinct. But jlf, you are talking to a large subset of people who are still exploiting the concept that after slavery, that great and rather obvious improvement over eating their dead and yes...maybe as recent as 10,000 years ago having discovered burials that old, but who then created money, private property (neither of which is wealth at all) as the means to an end...pride and greed. So the 'rock' becomes a profit center, we all and all we do and our 'gods' still has mankind, hunting and gathering...for a profit. OR...you just try to survive...OR...evolve. Could our grandkids or maybe their grandkids, see...Soylent Green ? Water is the next big war. (look at the SW US...they still do nothing)
