January 27, 2017, is the 72nd anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz.

That brings to mind some sobering thoughts I recently saw on Facebook.

Of course it didn't start with gas chambers. It started with exactly the same kind of hysterical antipathy toward an entire religion that Donald Trump has shamelessly exploited and encouraged in order to gain power. Germans gradually "normalized" everything that was happening. The rest is history.

Trump and Hitler are birds of a feather. Virtually everything about his rise to power echoes what happened way back then. Sadly, too many Americans are fuzzy on history, fed as they have been a steady diet of insipid (Un)reality TV.

It started with an Austrian immigrant.

https://www.indy100.com/article/trump-weekly-list-immigrants-crimes-hitler-comparisons-7547211

Trump has ordered his new administration to publish a weekly list of the crimes committed by immigrants.

As he signed the order, Trump read out the names of the US citizens murdered by illegal immigrants.

The order, however, doesn’t specify if this relates to just illegal immigrants, or all immigrants living in the US legally.

But Christopher Hooton has pointed out a likeness between Trump’s latest policy development and an article from Nazi paper ‘The Criminal Jew,’ which published photos of Jewish people who had committed crimes including pickpocketing.

Taken from the book Hitler’s Ethic: The Nazi Pursuit of Evolutionary Progress by professor Richard Weikart, the text explains that "In 1943, a Nazi directive to the German press declared, 'Jews are criminal by disposition. The Jews are not a nation like other nations but bearers of hereditary criminality.'"

And he'd been a German citizen since 1913.
All of the philosophical influences on Mein Kampf were German rather than Austrian. The Nazi party was founded by Anton Drexler (from Munich, rather than Austria), and Hegel and Neitszche were both Germans as well. (There was another German philosopher -whose name I forget- with a bee in his bonnet about about racial purity who's largely forgotten now but was a huge influence on the Nazi party early on.)
One has to admire BamaD's chutzpah in trying to pin the rise of the Nazi party on one pecific immigrant, but he'd have a hard job defending that one.

The Nazi is the person who's started another thread (the chickenshit didn't have the balls to come out with that in this one) to insist that less people died in the holocaust than during the firebombing of Dresden.
But of course, el presidente has no white supremacists, neo nazis or holocaust deniers supporting him at all. Anybody who says so, that's just the fake news at work...

That all applies WAY more to the left. Hillary recently called on Congress to reign in "fake news" which is precisely why I rub your alt left faces in your constant links to proven fake news reports. The alt left created the "fake news" narrative to attack Republicans but it hilariously blew up in your faces because fake news is all you losers have

Scientists and government employees who fail to toe the Communist / Democrat party line are routinely ostracized

Paid rioters and volunteer rioters have been attacking Republicans, for peaceably assembling. Every report of minorities or of churches being attacked by Trump supporters are practically always proven to be hoaxes perpetrated by alt left trolls just like you

Jeff Bezos, mega-rich alt left radical who owns Amazon.com, bought the Washington Post for propaganda purposes

NYT, alt left radicals

CNN, alt left radicals

Same with MSNBC, TIME, CBS, ABC, etc etc etc

Step five, you and your friends love nothing more than labeling dissenters "pigs" etc, just like your Nazi forebearers and Muslim allies do and or did to the Jews and those others who you want to criminalize the existence of

You label us people who hate the planet, you falsely claim we hate women and minorities - label us "deplorables" and you assume the mantle of moral saviors

You are on step five

Step five

Except you don't have any power because of the wisdom of the voting public. "Blow up the White House" - Madonna. "Basket of irredeemable deplorables" - Hillary. There's a curent thread lamenting how the military failed to execute the president, CNN ran a story detailing how a perfectly timed attack would put another alt left extremist in the White House

Etc etc etc

Really? I thought he'd got his papers when he joined up during the first world war. My bad.

He fled Austrian military service and joined the Bavarian army in 1914. Technically he might have faced a military trial as a deserter - it might have been one of the reasons he was not expelled to Austria in 1923 and afterwards. Joining the Bavarian army did not make him a Bavarian/German citizen.

I think where your post fails is smearing the "Left" as a whole, and that's equally true when "Liberals" are smeared as a group. In my view, you only have an arguable case in reference to the shenanigans of many so-called "Progressives" and "Social Justice Warriors".

Thank you. I was thinking it'd be some Heinlein thing where military service got him his citizenship papers. (On a less snide note, I think the Foreign Legion was doing that back then in France.)

If remember right Bama... the whole problem you said.... was because Hitler took the people's guns away.
