They are refugees, and while some/many may be going thru the asylum refugee process and fear automatic deportation by Trump at some point, some may even have been vetted and gotten green cards but they fear being put in internment camps like the US did to Japanese & Japanese-Americans.. They have gotten the message that immigrants arent welcome in the US & refugees even less so..

They are just being smart about it and leaving rather than stay and face the risk & uncertainty & the increasing hate.. They will have a much better life in Canada anyway..

This is very much like the (as many as 30,000) slaves that traveled on the Underground Railroad to Canada to real freedom.. and like the (30,000 to 40,000) American draft dodgers who refused to fight in Vietnam and came to Canada instead.. And btw, Canada wasnt punished those times and wont be this time either..
