Fifteen and a half years too late, if you ask me (and you didn't). The time to drop this bastard would have been DEC of '01 when that goat-fucker, Bin Laden was hiding in Tora Bora.

Michael

Yes, but that is like saying we have used F-86s at Pearl, they didn't exist yet.

The bomb was designed in 2002 and produced and in service in 2003.

So, yep. Didn't exit in 2001 but definitely did shortly thereafter.

I'm answering both of you folks in one fell swoop:

The penchant (and, probably necessity) our government has for keeping secrets, I believe this thing was developed long before '03 (when we went public with it). As an example: I know we had operational prototype stealth fighters in 1982 which was long before the public found out about them in Desert Storm ('91).

Michael

I believe it very likely you are correct.

Sadly, whilst giving them names, it makes them personalise the killing machines into something 'nice' and 'friendly' to them, I mean after all... they are their mates.. they kill the nasty people so must be their friends right?
Which, makes it rather easier to let them lose and takes away guilt.

Or it could be a tradition going back a long way and your pseudo analysis is pretty much fake.

IF the MOAB was produced and ready for use prior to 2003, was it constraint, diplomacy or fear of reprisal that kept the (then current and following) POTUS from using it in response to 911 and later during the following "War On Terrorism" years. Until now.

With Bush, who knows? With Obama, he had that whole "if we make them mad at us they'll use it as a recruiting tool thing". Obama was known for firing top military generals who wanted to fight the war and replacing the with generals that wanted to make the job of the military an affirmative action thing. Of course I'm guessing there. But since there were no such things as terrorists under the Obama administration, it's my guess based on watching him for eight years.

Since Barack Obama has been in the White House, high ranking military officers have been removed from their positions at a rate that is absolutely unprecedented.Things have gotten so bad that a number of retired generals are publicly speaking out about the 'purg' of the U.S. military that they believe is taking place. As you will see below, dozens of highly decorated military leaders have been dismissed from their positions over the past few years. So why is this happening? What is going on right now is absolutely crazy especially during a time of peace. Is there a deliberate attempt to reshape the military and remove those who don't adhere to the proper 'viewpoints' ? Does someone out there feel a need to get officers that won't cooperate out of the way?

Throughout world history, whatever comes next after a military purge is never good.
If this continues, what is the U.S. military going to look like in a few years?

Perhaps you are reading this and you think that 'purge' is too strong a word for what is taking place. Well, justconsider the following quotes from some very highly decorated retired officers:

-Retired Army Major General Paul Vallely:The White House protects their own. That's why they stalled on the investigation into fast and furious, Benghazi and Obamacare. He's intentionally weakening and gutting our military, Pentagon and reducing us as a superpower, and anyone in the ranks who disagrees or speaks out is being purged.

-Retired Army Major General Patrick Brady: There is no doubt he (Obama) is intent on emasculating the military and will fire anyone who disagrees with him.
-Retired Army Lt. General William G. Jerry Boykin:Over the past three years, it is unprecedented for the number of four-star generals to be relieved of duty, and not necessarily relieved for cause.

-Retired Navy Captain Joseph John:I believe there are more than 137 officers who have been forced out or given bad evaluation reports so they will never make Flag (officer), because of their failure to comply to certain views.

A Pentagon official who asked to remain nameless because they were not authorized to speak on the matter said even young officers, down through the ranks have been told not to talk about Obama or the politics of the White House. They are purging everyone and if you want to keep your job just keep your mouth shut. Now this trend appears to be accelerating.

Dont know if your felchgobbling asswipe was from washington times or rense, but right off the bat, Carter Ham was not fired, he retired when he hit his 62 (because he is under the old retirement counting system) I am sure most are like that with a couple shitbreathers that were fired.

Nutsucker cockgargling from front to back though, doesnt have any of the basics correct, lying premises are lying conclusions.

Oh I see mental patient. There is a list of over a hundred relieved officers and you dispute one. The one that happened to dispute Obama saying he called for military support for Benghazi. I betting he left to help edit videos.

It wasn't.

the MOAB was developed 2002 and ready for use 2003.

Air Burst bombs where not actually attack weapons - Their purpose was to clear obstructions and destroy mines after we've been through an area and attained air superiority. This is because the only delivery method available to the weapon is it on a pallet, sliding it out the back side of a C-130. The need for such a weapon arose after 2001, when Daisy Cutters used against insurgents and non-government terrorists, which both lacked an air force hid in complex cave networks, proved extremely effective.

the MOAB was initially a modernized BLU-82 Daisy Cutter, fitting in a guidance system and a more efficient housing that didn't limit the explosion in any way.

MOAB got dropped as a message from our Draft Dodger in Chief to that fat assed Korean fuckwit that we can put some serious mojo on his ass.

If the point of the bombing was to deny the enemy the cover of the cave system then why not warn them to get their families to safety?

So they could move their troops to a save haven.

Bama we are either animals as they or we are not... If you think it is acceptable to sacrifice innocents to teach them a lesson on human shields then you are as bad as they. The significance of this bombing was denial of the cave system... not a few estimated casualties. The humane thing to do would be to give a short warning allowing innocents to flee... Trump did it for the Russians at the airbase...why not innocent women and children. He had no way of knowing who was in those caves but he bombed indiscriminately... No less abhorrent to civilized people than Assad's barrel bombs.

The denial of protection and shelter to the terrorists could have been done without innocents being killed. The 30 something estimated enemy deaths will have little affect on the war where the destruction of the cave system could.

Right, don't attack anyplace where they have human shields.
Has it ever occurred to you that the people using human shields are the ones responsible for what happens to them?
Of course not.
Never fire when there are human shields so if they attack a position diving innocents ahead of the if the position does not surrender they and not ISIS are the animals.
