It depends on what you and the other person want from a Ds relationship.
I did an online ownership for a little over a year many years ago. We ended it by mutual agreement because frankly we wanted to have physical, face-to-face contact and the emails, letters, and phone calls were not satisfying for either of us.
I am still friends with this man, very good friends, and he did make it out to visit me for a week years later where we discovered we were exactly as we had said online, in letters, and on the phone.
That made it worse and we agreed that long-distance would not work for us because we would always know what was missing.
I don't do online or long-distance period after this. But doing it once taught me what I really need is that close contact authority dynamic.
