Musicmystery -> Which are the highest taxed countries? (4/29/2017 8:15:11 AM)

It's kind of an irrelevant point, since what do they get for those taxes is the next question.

But anyway, despite American mythology, we are not the highest taxed nation on Earth.

In fact, we aren't even in the top 27:

So the anti-taxation libertarians have won their battle, yet your country is still not a free market utopia where anybody can get rich and the plutocracy is an open club?

True, but our business rates are at or near the top...

Was that a derail?
Cripplingly high taxation and the need for tax cuts in order to generate more wealth seems to be a big thing for a lot of people who pray nightly in front of shrines to Milton Friedman. The fact that American tax rates are less ruinous in global terms than they like to make out is surely of interest? I'd imagine that was why you started this thread...

Apologies if I misunderstood.

But my point is. The benefits that American get is even less than my country. Yet they pay higher taxes than us. So the tax that you pay, you aren't getting your money's worth of things that you should be entitled to, as part of those taxes that you paid.

And your link there seem to measuring corporate tax, and not personal income tax.

So if they paid more tax (as they did under Eisenhower) rather than hiding their assets offshore, stuff would work better.

Before you get too smug, let's compare Singapore's military to the US military, and the reality that much of Singaporean security is a by-product of US navy patrols and the Chinese military.

Shit costs money in the real world.

Which part of "after all the deductions are accounted for" didn't you understand?

Thanks to the Republicans.

Raises the question, then, why they're lying about it.

You'd think they'd be proud.

After eight years of Obama, lies suddenly matter again?

Ah. The partisan "It's OK if it's a Republican lying" defense.

Because they didn't invent the lie.

What an inspiring platform.

WickedsDesire -> RE: Which are the highest taxed countries? (4/29/2017 12:33:01 PM)

Read my lips music - and that is actually true ;)

Tax burden is difficult to quantify - I had no issue with your original link

Corporation tax is something entirely different and singular and I can assure you most American Corporations do not remotely come close to paying the alleged set rates of 40ish %. Look up the modern definition of sophism

UllrsIshtar -> RE: Which are the highest taxed countries? (4/29/2017 12:56:33 PM)

When compared to the GDP, the US scores extremely low both on income, as well as on corporate taxes. There's a lot of taxes made up other ways.
Still, the overall tax rate against the GDP is only 26%, compared to nearly 50% for Belgium and Denmark.

the government only spending a quarter of every dollar of wealth that a nation produces wouldn't be to bad if all necessary social services are actually covered by it... but of course, it doesn't factor in the national debt...

I'm curious about what the tax rate really ought be against the GDP to cover every penny on the dollar the US government actually spends. Anybody got data on that?

WickedsDesire -> RE: Which are the highest taxed countries? (4/29/2017 1:42:46 PM)

How much tax does you know who pay

i like when the kiddie raper screams that - pays fuk all and blames everyone else - heh who voted for that?
