So given that citizens united ruling allows for unlimited campaign donations and the fact that so many politicians on the right AND the left are paid a lot of money by corporate interests and other groups for speeches, votes, etc. How many of you think that a new constituational amendment should be implemented banning corporate donations, or at least drastically limiting them? Money isn't freedom after all, those who are rich shouldn't be considered more free than those who aren't. I'm pretty sure America was supposed to promise freedom to all, not freedom to the privileged.

If they could stop that, do you think they'd have the shower of shit that's stinking up all three branches of your government?

They can, by calling for a convention through the states. Many liberal groups such as the ACLU or Common Cause are adamant that they can get an amendment pushed through congress and completely reject the idea of a convention, even though it's in your consitution to be able to do so. If the people taking corporate money aren't willing to ban corporate money, it's time you guys go in at the state level and work to get enough states on side to call for a convention for an amendment. It'll take time but it's better than wishing for a corrupt government to in-corrupt themselves out of nowhere.

The Supreme Court already decided that corporations are people.

And an amendment can change that.

It would be a great start and fundamental to returning power to the people rather than where is it now, in the powerful, rich groups of people, the richest and most powerful of which...are corporations and large business associations.

Another amendment is required at the same time. One flatly stating that property (money) is not speech.

That kind of thinking will doom your country into maintaining this kind of shit. Work at the local and state level, primary your leaders and put forth state and national candidates who will run on a platform to call for a convention and establish a new amendment. Getting money out of politics is the first step, and then the rest will follow when the blood supply is cut off from the leech.

/can't be done with the current state of affairs. The people taking the money would have to make taking the money illegal. What snowball's chance in hell is there of that ?

the one chance is to take the teeth out of the big corporations and those teeth are dollars. That means to buy from local vendors, drive that old car into the ground, don't buy new furniture or anything. The only thing to buy new is food. The rest can come from thrift stores or whatever ? Too low class for you ? Think about the alternatives. You keep feeding these beasts and they will have total control. You won't have an amendment taking money off the table, they will pay their minions to make an amendment putting money on the table in ways never before imagined. What else do you think they would do ?

The alternative is an armed insurrection, and those usually don't go so well. But the people you want to attack are not even the government, you want to get at Monsanto, Citibank, Exxon and so forth. And even if you do, the people who answer the door are not at fault, it is those in the upper offices who are. Good luck getting to them without leaving gallons of blood in the corridors. And even if you do, there is another crop of like people ready to take their place.

It doesn't matter if you decide, like some of us have, to starve the beast, it will happen anyway. There are no real jobs. People are working for half of what they're worth already. House mortgages underwater. Commercials on TV are not made to get you to buy the thing, they are buying the airwaves to affect the content. How many goddamn five buck useless things do you have to sell to make up for a one million dollar commercial ? And some of them, you can't even figure out what they're for !

To even get started, we need alternative media. But if real effective alternative media comes out it will be quashed. They let Alex Jones go on because he spices his pieces with enough bullshit conclusions of his own that it makes him look like an idiot or whatever. If he has credibility, like the guy who owned overthrow.com, he would be in jail.

As long as "they" control the media we have no way to get the word out and to suggest any course of action. That might well be the place to start. Politicians would have a damn hard time getting elected without the media.

In the past, there was a law that one entity could only own one AM, one FM and one TV station in any given market. Not no mo. One guy owns half of it and another guy owns the other half. There also used to be a some sort of fairness doctrine. People called up the TV station and said "I demand equal time". Anyone remember that ?

Strict control of the flow of information is what has crippled us. This is precisely where we need to act. Then after the media is ot controlled by like five people in the world, we might make some progress in the world.

T^T

wont do any good, then they will move it to trusts!

would need to say 'artificial entity' then give its definition so our lovely legal system cant turn it into an aboretion like they do everythign else.

You can blame scrotumus maximus for the ruling that corporations are 'people' they are not, neither do they represent a '[per]son.

Amazing that liberals hate when corporations donate to republicans, but are quiet as fuck when unions give millions of dollars to democrats.

God bless Donald Trump.

Yeah, no, dumbass. Unions are real people. Nevertheless, I am against them contributing, as well.

However, unions are given the opportunity to vote on that issue, by a change in bylaws at local and national levels, people who work for corporations are not.

God bless you ignorant retarded felchgobblers.

Nope, never mind, as a retard you are unable to grasp reality concepts.

For those who are not imbeciles like realzeroretard, there are bylaws for a local as well as the national.

So it's cool with the left to call people 'retard'. I'm sure it's not meant in an offensive, belittling or bullying way. I'm sure you have nothing but respect for those souls afflicted with mental deficiency.
