ORIGINAL: BoscoX How does criticizing Islam create terrorists, if Islam has nothing to do with terrorism You think that these people are doing this because you're criticizing them? I have a really hard time believing that even you are this ignorant. Let's see: http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/shows/target/etc/modern.html quote:
As pointed out by RAND's Bruce Hoffman, in 1980 two out of 64 groups were categorized as largely religious in motivation; in 1995 almost half of the identified groups, 26 out of 56, were classified as religiously motivated; the majority of these espoused Islam as their guiding force. So what happened around 1980? Why is it that before 1980, Islamic extremism wasn't a major concern at all? What happened around 1980 is that the West started to get blow back from the treachery of 1919 and from the installation of the Shah in Iran. In the 1970s acts of terrorism against airliners and the Olympics in Munich ('68?) were political blow back for the Israeli incursion (thanks again to the Brits) The Arab War on the West is political and has a long history from the early 20th Century, and only fools like Bosco are misinformed enough to dwell over and over again what ever was written in their holy moly book. The Islamophobes have been suckered into taking their eyes off the ball just like people who keep asking "Why do they hate us?" Land and oil, Western militarism, etc. are your answers. So, Trump sends more troops into the muck. Well, that's true... but actually, the Iranian revolution and the beginning of the Soviet war in Afghanistan were in 1979. That was also when the US began arming extremist terrorist groups in a plot to draw the Soviets into 'their Vietnam', a move they hoped would eventually contribute to the collapse of the USSR.
