Ah...no.

That's why reading is helpful. It gives you a clue about the topic.

Has this ever actually happened with him?
If so, do you ever get the impression that information has been correctly interpreted and/or retained?

I haven't seen it.

Reading this thread makes it even more obvious: Practically all that the alt left has for "debate" are their propaganda blogs, and their ever present fallacy crutches

Sadly, it makes obvious the propensity for knee-jerk defensive repetition of pet talking points, ignoring new information and analysis in favor of repeating past beliefs.

The article discusses a completely different topic than the circle-jerk critics (who still felt the need to "debate" what they're still literally ignorant about) went off to rant about.

All the while pretending others are ignorant.

Bizarre head-in-the-sand paranoia.

But it is what it is. Some folks don't learn.

At least four fallacies employed in that post alone

The New York Times is nonstop propaganda 24/7. Thinking people see right through it the same way we see through Al Gore and his 1970's TV preacher "Repent - The End Is Near" gig.

All of the Dear Leaders of the Doom and Gloom club ride in stretch limousines and use private jets to fly around the globe to their swanky conferences that they could telecommute to. They live in vast air conditioned mansions, with heated swimming pools and armed guards. Many have more than one

Hysterical predictions were made, and they all failed to materialize. Scandals among the pseudoscientists are infamous, with data being changed and bureaucrats leading the propaganda war, while leftists refuse to acknowledge that reality when the proof is in black and white in their faces

The cultish scam is about promoting the new world order, with the haves getting it all and the have nots getting screwed out of their money, their jobs, their votes, and their affordable energy (and everything that affordable energy provides).

Useful idiots like you are always the last to finally figure it out, too - though it is all very simple and obvious.

Wrong on just about every count. Plus, why is it that only when the left as you say, see's a problem, it is they and they alone that must fall on their sword to prove their point ?

Those jets and limos are anything but universal to the problem and the use of carbon by righties and their greedy, rich friends and sponsors are beyond compare.

We all think he is as mad as a bag of owls. You will notice the flapper reaches deep within his crevice and holds up that non marvel of complete bithering incopentence dripping in its proud fresh shit. They say, well they do say, when you walk past its mums house you can hear some mad fuk (h)owling from its mums basement like a demented alt right madman.

They say, well they so do, if you listen carefully you can hear it screaming:
Mwahhhh Hillary someone
Mwahhhh Handsome Obama
Some animal empty his bum parts into a bucket
Comrade Trump and Putinjizz is my lord, another bucket load please. And then you hear some filthy beggar begging for sloppy watery seconds.

They say he has four wild eyes and is missing a brain and answers to the name of demented right wing nutter, so they say.

not the least bit tempted to read the article because, given its source and the person who posted it, im pretty confident the premise is "us right/you wrong"

No that is not the premise of the article, nor the content. But as you have declined the opportunity to discover that for yourself, I suppose you will never know that (except in the unlikely event that you accept either MM's or my word for it)
quote:

what that does is it takes the "fingers in the ears and going lalalalalalala" position and turns it right on its head. the left are the ones doing that.

No it doesn't do that at all. In this instance, the left aren't the ones putting their "fingers in the ears and going lalalalalalala". You are. You have just told us precisely that in the previous sentence. This evidence suggests that successfully adhering to the logic of an argument for more than one sentence is beyond your abilities.

that brings to mind one of my favorite phrases when it comes to observing the behaviors and attitudes of lefties: smug pompous asses.

All the above makes it very clear that if there are any "smug pompous asses" in this discussion, that smug pompous ass is you.

why dont you try a few facts for a change?
we have had increased solar iiradiance to the tune of .05% per decade which means we get a corresonding increase in temperature mans role is insignificant as the planet eco system self adjusts (regulates) for carbon dioxide et al all by itself.
https://www.nasa.gov/feature/goddard/2017/scientists-propose-mechanism-to-describe-solar-eruptions-of-all-sizes

Where in that article does it say that the sun is causing climate change?
If you're so keen on bringing facts into the discussion, you should probably be sure that they actually prove the point you're trying to make.

sorry it requires compex inductive reasoning skills, if the heater gets hotter so does what its heating

Actually, the problem is that you're too simple to realize it's a lot more complex than that.
But of course, you have a habit of reasoning like a child and then calling everyone else stupid for not agreeing with you.

You will be able to find people arguing that it's the sun, but not on any NASA website:

https://climate.nasa.gov/causes/

quote:

It's reasonable to assume that changes in the sun's energy output would cause the climate to change, since the sun is the fundamental source of energy that drives our climate system.
Indeed, studies show that solar variability has played a role in past climate changes. For example, a decrease in solar activity is thought to have triggered the Little Ice Age between approximately 1650 and 1850, when Greenland was largely cut off by ice from 1410 to the 1720s and glaciers advanced in the Alps.
But several lines of evidence show that current global warming cannot be explained by changes in energy from the sun:

Since 1750, the average amount of energy coming from the sun either remained constant or increased slightly.
If the warming were caused by a more active sun, then scientists would expect to see warmer temperatures in all layers of the atmosphere. Instead, they have observed a cooling in the upper atmosphere, and a warming at the surface and in the lower parts of the atmosphere. That's because greenhouse gases are trapping heat in the lower atmosphere.
Climate models that include solar irradiance changes can’t reproduce the observed temperature trend over the past century or more without including a rise in greenhouse gases.

On the original article-- it's not really news to say that the GOP has never truly believed its own position on climate change due to objectivity.

I also don't think that all of the denialism exists due to a desire to do harm, or that they would put profits over the future if they were capable of accepting the truth... I think that these people are just so desperate to believe that they can cling to their old way of life, make money the way they want to and hold onto their party identity that they will believe anything that gets them there.

There are people on the other side who take it too far (the clathrate gun guy comes to mind), but the idea that we can conclude that it's definitely all going to be fine or it's not something we have any control over is extremely frustrating. So are the geniuses who think that a handful of failed predictions means that all science is wrong. These are the kinds of narratives that everyone should be smarter than.

Yeah, it's an interesting casualty of the ever increasing polarization.

I really thought this was non-partisan enough that we could all have a discussion.

I should have known the usual suspects would just revert to blind partisanship and knee jerk talking points.

Thanks to those who actually checked out the article and shared thoughts.
