A van has struck pedestrians near Finsbury Park Mosque in north London "leaving a number of casualties", police said.

One person was arrested following the incident on Seven Sisters Road.

Officers were called at 00.20 BST and remain at the scene, the Metropolitan Police said, describing it as a "major incident".

The Muslim Council of Britain (MCB) said a van "intentionally" ran over people.
Witnesses said the area was busy because worshippers had been attending evening prayers.
London Ambulance Service said it had sent "a number of resources" to the scene.

All we know so far is that this is a 48 year old Caucasian man.

Pointless "retribution" against innocent Muslims going about their business is exactly what ISIS and other Islamic Terrorist Groups want.

This act has been condemned as terrorism by the Police, the Government and the London Mayor.

Talk about playing into the extremist's hands. They would like nothing better than to turn this into a war between the communities to muddy the waters and prevent the whole community (of all faiths) coming together against the terrorists.

Incorrect.

Everyone is well aware that the man concerned was ill before the attack and the Police are calmly working out whether he was injured during the attack before he died.

No-one is trying to pin anything on anyone. The attack happened in front of many people and police were in the area.

The crowd displayed considerable restraint in delivering the man to police. He was taken to hospital only for precautionary reasons and not because he had any serious injury that was obvious to the Police.

According to the Deputy Assistant Commissioner in charge of Counter Terrorism he states that they are looking into the elderly mans death to see if it was natural or terror related.

The congregation at Finsbury park are mostly Arab and North African rather than Pakistani or Bengali: that was how Abu Hamza managed to get his foot int he door there back in the '90s. The Saudis are more likely to hang their hats in posher areas, though.

And why do self-loathing UK "liberals" get so upset when Muslims are the victims of an accident (as in the case of the tower fire), but they look away when Muslims deliberately slaughter little girls at a pop concert, or drive their own trucks through crowds of tourists

Sounds like the driver in this case may have known a victim of Muslim violence or two?
