And the fact that you anti gun people are going to ignore these numbers, which are far greater than those involving guns and concentrate strictly on guns proves one fucking point, you do not care about children's safety unless a gun is involved.

There is at least a slight distinction here between gun deaths and deaths from alarming and/or stupid misadventure, surely? As well as providing another way for an inquisitive child in a house full of morons to kill them self, they also make it a lot easier for stupid people or their offspring to kill other people's children, and that is a problem in a way that somebody dumb enough leave toxins, dangerous tools or other lethal booby traps lying around where there offspring can encounter them isn't, as a rule.

Pfft. This is the country that elected Trump as President. Forget it. All you'll ever do, as a non-American on a thread like this, is make the Trump-supporters jump up and down in a fury of patriotic, ultra-ignorant gnashing of teeth, and the Trump-opponents cringe in disgust at the Trump-supporters while thinking, for the zillionth time, 'How the fuck did we get here, with so much stupid having so much power?'. It's just comprehensively dismal, really.

Which is still infinitely better than listening to British girly men whine and be hypocrites.

No careless is as careless does. You should be far more concerned with poisions, they kill far more kids than guns and that would be where your concern would be if you weren't obsessed with how evil guns and their owners are. Why aren't you pusshing to ban any form of poisons.

Actually, the carelessness that allows a child to get to an irresponsibly stored firearm is EXACTLY the same stupidity that allows a child to get to any one of those items that accidentally poison far more children per year and kill far more children per year than guns.

However, anti gun idiots fail to see the connection between the stupidity of one and the stupidity of the other.

But, here is the problem with anti gun people, they only see ONE problem, guns.

And since we are talking about preventable deaths, lets get some facts straight.

Guns are NOT the leading cause of deaths for children ages 16-19, automobile accidents in which they were the driver are.
In fact, guns are not the leading cause of preventable deaths of any age group of children in the US, drowning and accidental poisonings are, followed by car accidents. Guns fall to a distant fourth slot.

But, guns are the easiest thing to control, ban guns and save kids.

Yeah, save 1300 out of the close to 20000 children that die from preventable accidents.

Then they scream about guns that are used in criminal acts, of which most are in the hands of individuals that by FEDERAL law should not be able to buy a gun in the first place, and wouldn't be able to if those liberal anti-gun idiots would actually support making one thing mandatory for use by all law enforcement and judicial agencies.

But no, we cant do that because it is an invasion of privacy.

So, some jackass who has a protective order against him from a judge in a county that opts out of putting that on the national criminal data base goes a couple of counties over in the same state, buys a gun and goes back and plants a bullet in the brain pan of the women he beat the fuck out of that got him the protective order in the first place.

Then they point to gang violence, and the fact that guns are a primary problem there.

Okay, well folks hate to break the really bad news to you.

In LA county last year, the local law enforcement agencies confiscated 2 fully automatic weapons (which are not sold at wal mart or any other gun dealer in the US) for every one gun that could have been legally bought.

LA county also picked up a few thousand high capacity magazines which are illegal in the state of California.

Now since we are talking numbers, lets look at the facts.

There are over 270 MILLION legally owned firearms in the US.

The average legally authorized gun owner in the US owns more than one gun, the current average is 5, some more, some less.

So, for all those legal guns (and gun owners) to be responsible for those 1300 children killed by guns in the United States, each one of those kids had to be shot with 207,692 guns.

I mean anti gun people are holding all legal gun owners and guns responsible.

But wait, it is impossible for those kids to have been shot with that many guns. Even the anti gun people will admit that (while blaming ALL gun owners, which is why we should get rid of all privately owned guns.)

And yes, when you look at the FBI homicide statistics, guns are the leading cause of deaths....

The most recent available is 2011 with 12,664

A large number, agreed.

However, if you really read that report, you find 20% of those guns were reported stolen prior to the crime they were used in (oops, some responsible blood thirsty gun owner called the cops and reported his/her gun stolen.)

So, if we are to blame all gun owners, that means all of us actually participated in killing those 1300 kids.

But then, by the same logic, every driver should be held responsible for every kid accidentally hit by a car.

Every person that drinks is responsible for every one killed by a drunk driver.

And every woman who uses make up is responsible for every kid accidentally poisoned by cosmetics.

And the list of responsible parties goes on...

So, why dont you hypocritical mother fuckers admit the fact.

It is not that kids die in preventable accidents, it is the fact that a small (very fucking small) percentage are killed by guns as opposed to the much higher numbers of kids killed by other preventable means.

I probably wasn't clear in my original reply, jeff, but I can see where you're coming from now.
Absolutely, the negligence that allows a child to kill itself with its parent's gun is the same as the negligence that lets it kill itself by drinking bleach or drowning in the fishpond or whatever. No argument there. In that respect, a gun is identical to a bottle of bleach or a fishpond that's a lot deeper than it looks, true enough.
A child with a gun it doesn't have a clue how to use and shouldn't have in the first place is a bit more capable of killing somebody else with it as well as themself than a child who's mistaken a box of rat poison for marshmallows, though. I think that's probably why the gun control lobby make a point of emphasising kids as an emotional weapon in the pissing match between them and the "everybody has a right to a bazooka" wing of the NRA.

No, it is as he said, because you are obsessed with the evil gun.
Yes I have always owned guns, and my son knew more about how to be safe around them than the above average anti-gun nut when he was 10. He is 26 now so apparently I was not taking ridiculous chances with his safety.

Oh, so you manly Man works out and knows martial arts and has avoided a registered arm should have the advantage over my Grandmother ? Fuck you. That is why we used to call guns "equalizers".

Life is just fine for the strong. Let me work on you physically a bit so that you are vulnerable and put you in a situation where everyone wants to rob you. Your fucking pussy ass will beg for a gun in a situation like that.

My buddy Tony, tough MF to say the least, was at an ATM one night and a NBlack person came up from behind and said "I'll take that money". Tony said "You got a gun ?". Nope. "You got a knife ?" Nope. BOOM BOOM BOOM and he took that punk's money.

But what if that had been your Mother asshole ? And it is not just that maybe she should have a gun and be able to use it, even a bystander to shoot the punk instead of trying his luck against someone who might have worked out and learned martial arts in prison for twenty years.

And FYI pussy, because you probably have the physical strength, I have known people I would not even shoot because it would be unlikely to stop them. The type who falls from a scaffold twenty feet up on to a pile of bricks at the worksite, and breaks the bricks and just goes back to work. A little .22 is not going to work, you need a BIG gun for someone like that.

You kow noting about the subject. There are different ends of the spectrum. Recently in upstate somewhere there were a bunch of Natives protesting the pipeline. One of them, female, got hit with one of those rubber bullets from the feds. It ripped her flesh so badly that she was in great danger of losing her arm.

Meantime, on February 25th, 1985 I was shot in the face about an inch under my left eye by a .38 and I wound up in the hospital for five days. Five days. Yes, I would shoot that motherfucker if I could find him. Shooting someone in the face is attempted murder.

But noone else really. People have fucked me out of thousands of bucks, but I do not shoot over that. You have to be a real threat. Because of part;y how I was and some I have known even tougher you do not have to be armed to be considered a threat. In my weakened condition, and with my current severe back problem, I can still kill with my bare hands. Just imagine what someone i good shape can do.

You will never convince even one USian to give up their guns, so stop fucking spamming the goddamn group. And you don't even have a horse in this race, you are already disarmed and harmless.

T^T

Oh brother, you are dense as a chunk of Scot Granite.

You sit here screaming about the evil gun and all the problems the US has because of them.

If there weren't so many guns then 1300 kids would not be killed by them, accidentally or otherwise.

I go out of my way that the accidental death of a kid with a gun is no different than accidental poisonings, drownings, and every other PREVENTABLE child death in this country.

It boils down to the stupidity of the owner of the damn gun. The gun itself did not jump into the child's hand, and the gun did not LOAD itself.

Some shit for brains adult put a loaded gun someplace a kid could get to it.

So your solution is to punish the 99% of gun owners who 1) do not store guns where a kid can readily get to it, loaded or unloaded, and 2) are smart enough to use some storage method other than a gun case with glass in the front and a $3 lock keeping the doors closed.

Their are 270,000,000 legally owned guns in the US, about 52% of all US households have at least one gun in them.

The logic of holding those people who's firearms are not used in criminal acts or who's firearms have never been used in an absurdly stupid manner is akin to punishing everyone who owns a knife in the UK because of the rise in knife related crimes in the UK in recent years.

But, unfortunately, you cannot regulate stupidity, nor can you make laws that would, and be fair to those not afflicted with the problem.
