He wasnt successful, he got caught before he could do that but that certainly was his intent...

The American legal system doesn't even pretend that it's locking people to rehabilitate rather than to punish them: it's either a refreshing display of honesty, or a big "fuck you" to sociologists. (It could even be both.) One of the issues of this, of course, is that it has the largest percentage of its prison population who won't be released until they're dead of any nation in the western world. With an already large prison population, and those business interests who exploit their local convicts for cheap labour in order to keep their overheads down and try to compete with the Chinese, this is a situation that's steadily worsening.

As for capital punishment, some Americans do and some don't. That's done (or banned) at a State rather than National level, and the method used varies from State to State. I'm not sure if any even still use the electric chair, as gas chambers, lethal injections or firing squads seem to be more usual these days.

I didnt see your reply until today so I shall address it now.. I dont believe I said he was charged with fraud re the Goldmans but its pretty obvious that is why he stole the stuff, cuz if it was his and he didnt think the Goldmans had a potential claim to any of it then he would have just called the cops & had them get the stuff back for him (as his friend suggested he do prior to stealing it).. as it turns out the Goldmans did put a claim in for the stuff once the cops arrested him & seized the stuff..

from 2007 article- "The Goldman family has been unsuccessfully trying to access the former star's assets since a judge ordered him to pay $33.5 million in a wrongful death case.

They have already launched an attempt to claim the items of sport memorabilia Simpson allegedly stole in last week's incident to help satisfy the judgment.

The haul is estimated to have been worth $80,000 to $100,000. A judge has so far agreed the family can collect one of the items, Simpson's gold Rolex Submariner watch, valued between $5,000 and $10,000."

Some people can be rehabilitated, some can't.. think Manson can be???

From what I have read on Simpson's parole hearing, he is still an arrogant sob, sure he said he was sorry but then he had lots of practice crying fake tears, saying he was sorry & wouldnt do it again after each time he beat the crap out of Nicole.. He learned pretty young how to be personable, making people like him and then manipulating them for what he wanted.. so imo that is what he has done here, he did things he knew he needed to do to get a good shot at parole, but I think part of the 33 years was given knowing he would likely get paroled so they gave him the max knowing he wouldnt serve anywhere near that..
Simpson is stupid, he turned down a deal for 2.5 years and got 9 years for his arrogance.. he got very lucky with the first trial, not so much with this one.. Once he is out, it wouldnt surprise me if he got into trouble yet again..

I think you are unaware of the deep and passionate racial divide that attended the murder trial of Nicole and Ron. Just prior to the OJ event four or five cops had been acquitted for beating the shit out of Rodney King (captured on video for all to see) a young black girl was shot in the back and murdered by a Korean shop keeper (blacks had a deep anger at Korean merchants in their neighborhoods) and the subsequent brutal days of rioting that occurred in Watts (Los Angeles) When OJ was found not guilty of Nicole's horrible, bloody, fucking homicide primarily on the dumb ass tactics of one particular prosecutor and the fitting of the gloves but also because the jury had already made up its mind in retaliation for the beating of Rodney King, black people celebrated in joy that one of their own had "stuck it to the man" But OJ was never really one of their own. He was an oreo . . . cookie, black on the outside but white on the inside. Now, I am not sure who will claim him. The media is salivating at the thought of exploiting him. . . if his parole conditions will allow it. But, I think he is soooooo yesterday that he will fizzle out quickly. He is from the 20th Century, yanno.
