ORIGINAL: MysticFireTopaz My very, very first car was an English car, a Sunbeam Minx, that I picked up for a steal. No wonder, it was in the shop half the time! Next got a VW bug and that was FAR more reliable. Lady Topaz My first car was a Rootes Group car -- a 1953 Hillman Minx convertible that my folks bought when I was 12 and was given to me when the engine blew up when I was 14. I spent all my birthday and christmas money for two years on that car, rebuilding the engine and making it driveable again. I drove it for a few years, ratio was about two hours behind the wheel driving, two days under the hood fixing. British made fun cars, even if they were a tinkerer's delight or a mechanic's dream, or even a driver's nightmare at times. .
