Well, Winstanley was very bionically inspired. I am glad you liked it, and I hope some of what he wrote 400 years ago still speaks to you today.
If you are interested in more of his writings, try here: https://www.marxists.org/reference/archive/winstanley/1652/law-freedom/law-freedom.pdf

Thank you, I will bookmark this.
I am still mulling over the first one.
It's great to "open your mind", and at least consider a different way of being and living in the world.
This is out of the realm of most people's capabilities.

400 years ago, think how different the world would be, if society had followed that path.

I do just that, rather often.

In a world where most march left or march right, I appreciate your point of view.
Viva la difference

That would be powerful stuff even today, if you translated it into modern English and stood in a town/city square, or appeared on TV and began expounding it to the masses................or maybe printed it as the centrefold of a newspaper ( I guess you would have to serialise it but it grips you from the very start). We have disagreed a little in the past Dizzy but that really is powerful stuff. Thanks.

It's mind blowing, I have to read it, put it down, and come back to it later.
It really is a lot to process, when you think about it.

Dvr22999874 -> RE: The Swedish socialist utopia (8/26/2017 11:21:57 PM)

It sure as hell beats 'Das Kapital" and "Mein Kampf" and yes I have read Das Kapital a couple of times and thrown Mein Kampf out of the window innumerable times.
I wonder what would happen to anybody who DID have the courage to expound these views in a public forum ? Would the masses follow ? What would the military do ? Because I am pretty sure you that if they listened to you with both ears, you would need the backing and aid of one or the other ( or both)

I love where you are going here.
I still think most people/the masses are not ready for this.
It would have been a lot easier to consider/implement, 100-150 years ago.

Dvr22999874 -> RE: The Swedish socialist utopia (8/26/2017 11:35:55 PM)

I agree Dizzy...............the masses are far too comfortable with their modern day 'Bread and Circuses'. In this country it is the sport ( they are sport and betting mad) as the circuses and the Social Security and things available to the unemployed ( the bread). If those things were taken away, the masses would rise like a tsunami and tear the politicians of all levels of government, police, lawyers and other symbols of their oppression, into confetti]. Whoever began this tidal wave though would need to prove, and keep proving, that he was in no way being manipulated by the moneyed fat-cats. He was not just another capitalist-backed-dictator on the make.

Dvr22999874 -> RE: The Swedish socialist utopia (8/26/2017 11:38:45 PM)

I am old enough, cynical enough and mad enough to volunteer for the job as long as my slave is well taken care of when I am 'disappeared'*smile*. I figure I died a lot of years ago in the Congo. What more can be done to me ?

Dvr22999874 -> RE: The Swedish socialist utopia (8/26/2017 11:59:43 PM)

It has been said ( AND proven) that the pen is mightier than the sword. Cromwell and a few like him, proved that the sword is much better for the full-stops. It still applies.

•Forty-three percent of all poor households actually own their own homes. The average home owned by persons classified as poor by the Census Bureau is a three-bedroom house with one-and-a-half baths, a garage, and a porch or patio.
•Eighty percent of poor households have air conditioning. By contrast, in 1970, only 36 percent of the entire U.S. population enjoyed air conditioning.

Etc.

You could have saved a lot of time and just pointed out that anyone with a 32" TV screen/monitor has it better that J. D. Rockefeller or Julius Caesar.

It's obvious that any notion of relevancy is beyond either you or bozo, as would be any understanding of evolution at all.

News flash; openly advocating that the poor of today should exist as did the poor of 5,000 years ago is not most peoples' idea of evolution.

Nor is it any thinking person's idea of evolution that we still have political parties today that promote policies which advocate inducement to the private sector which sustain a level poverty far beyond what evolution would otherwise have it.

As I have said numerous times before: If you don't like poor people, then quit voting for the assholes who are hell-bent on creating more of them.

Its hilarious he uses a CONservative advocacy group stats to support a view of poor people that doesn't even address the growing number of "working homeless" or the people living in low-end rental housing. or in homeless shelters since those people don't/cant vote for them,

(btw...... most rentals have at least a cheap window AC unit...whether it works on not or is correct for the apartment size is WAY another discussion...)

(if u don't have an address u cant register to vote.) ....hence why they want to create more poor people.... less voters against them.

so they as far as they are concerned those poor people don't exist....or don't need to.

So I'm not surprised they think poor people have milddle-class amenities.... they don't see the ACTUALLY poorest people in the first place....

Crony government intervention is often a hallmark of Dear Leader socialists, and opposed by fiscal conservatives

Think Obama, and Solyndra for example

Corporate welfare is the hallmark of state capitalism and loved by capitalist the world over. It's the best of all possible worlds where govt. 'intervention' today means billion$ of corporate welfare in bullshit tax breaks and subsidies and they get all of their profits while the 'state' takes the risk. What a fucking deal ??

They are correct to love everything about that kind of socialism. It's the kind that state capitalism actually codifies socialism for the rich, the corporate and investor class...capitalism for the poor.

No, I do not think that the tipping point has been reached, far too many still cling to the idea that they too might be able to somehow worm their way into the exploitative class, however, it is approaching with increasing rapidity. The wealth inequality crisis will be the trigger, it is the inevitable downfall of every exploitative system.
and as for why the system matters, well not all systems are equally amenable to an exploitative class. Capitalism requires it, it is based on the existence of an exploiting minority and an exploited majority. Socialism makes it more difficult for a single interrelated exploitative class to arise, rather it is prone to the danger of multiple exploitative groups, but they will share less of a class consciousness. Communism, makes it even more difficult, and the exploitative elements to which it is prone would be very diverse, and thus less inimical to the health of the whole body politic.

I read the link you sent, Marxist.org
It was almost biblical in nature, "Make the Earth a common treasury".
Fascinating read, thank you.

Very few people these days would be able to accept these ideals, and embrace that way of life.

The most telling thing and accurate about Marx and what he wrote about capital. (and capitalism) In general, the purposefully inflationary, (bubble-driven ) misuse of the powers of fiat capital in the so-called monetary system of paper money and the speculation on paper turned into money.

Any economy pays a high price for that and continues today.
