He will never succeed.

Trump has a underdog streak running throughout his life to make the impossible possible.

So wait and see. It's barely Year One.

This is a man who was negative 10 billion dollars to positive 10 billion. You know what this means? A rich kid who went broke. And able to bounce back through his negotiating skills. I've known too many rich kids who squandered their wealth and never came back on top, as the kind of hopelessness and depression, they are at that stage makes it difficult for them to fight and get back on their feet. As the first big wealth was inheritance. But after losing it all. Rebuilding takes starting from scratch and being humble.

This was a man who had only a 0.4% chance of winning primaries and almost a 0% chance of winning the national election.

So "NEVER" is a strong word. To me, it's only been like 8 months for a very big job with a large scope for a newbie. The first year is fumbling and falling and making all the mistakes to learn from your mistakes.

Year Two onwards, the real game starts.

2. Oh come on... you seriously think Trump would be allowed to follow through with a ban of trade on all those who trade with North Korea?

No... so does that mean he didn't actually say it? That he doesn't think he's being serious? That he actually understands the repercussions of such an action?
The thread title isn't 'OMG Trump is going to do this'.... it's 'Inarguably, The Stupidest President of All Time'.

Trump (to his Cabinet): "How about we stop trading with anyone who trades with North Korea?"
Cabinet: "Um, Mr. President?"
Trump: "Yeah, what would that be like? What kind of impact would that make?"
Cabinet: "There are 107 countries that trade with North Korea."
Trump: "107? How much US trade are we talking?"
Cabinet: "$1.6T in trade. Half a billion or so in exports."
Trump: "Well, that's no good."

Trump (to media): "We even considered halting all trade with any country that trades with North Korea."

Technically, he was correct. They did consider it. The idea was shot down, but it came up, and it was considered. Throwing it out for public consumption could be nothing more than a ploy to shake things up, get other countries' attention, and, perhaps get someone else to start clamping down on Kim Jung Un.

Or, he lied about having considered it.

quote:

Trump is an impotent president, a weak leader and a stupid person-- that is the point. He isn't a master negotiator, a cunning strategist, or even someone who deserves a modicum of respect.

He's made a deal with the Democrats. That's not impotent.
Give the guy a chance to show he can lead.
I don't disagree that intelligence is a forte of his.
Time will tell if he's a master negotiator or a cunning strategist.
He's the President of the US. He deserves a modicum of respect at the very least for the office he holds. He might not merit any more than a modicum of respect, and he might not deserve any outside of being the POTUS, but he does deserve some respect.

quote:

No one is going to take this comment seriously-- not as a negotiation tactic, not as a threat, not as the word of someone who will ever be able to do anything about it.
It serves no purpose except to embarrass the country and prove once and for all that Americans are stupid enough to have elected a total moron, and some of them are still somehow sure he's great.

Riiiight. That was Trump's reasoning completely: to embarrass the US.

quote:

Of course DeVos is going to do a lot of damage, but if this nightmare ends in 2020, the education system needs a serious fucking boost.
I don't care if you have to put brain steroids in tap water, Americans cannot afford to be this stupid.

I'd be willing to bet that a bunch of people on the right of the political spectrum said things with the same sentiment when then-President Obama started working on reform (Common Core was ridiculed unabashedly). Yet, here we are. The world did not end. Kids have not had their brains degraded. Life has gone on.

quote:

quote:

LMMFAO!! I'm a free trade kind of guy. Der. I oppose Trump's tariff schemes and the like. Reputation? Fuck that. I'm not concerned about our reputation.
You prove - pretty much daily - that you have no clue about me. Best of luck to you. You're too blindered to figure it out.

Yeah, I was a little distracted when I wrote that, was on my phone, and I still had Greta's post in my head... it was more a response to anyone who would defend this sort of thing.
I don't know how you can still have hope that this guy is ever going to be anything other than the moron he has proved himself to be.

Like I said before, I'm an optimist.

Trade sanctions against North Korea are not a Trump thing or an American thing.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sanctions_against_North_Korea

North Korea has been on most of the world's shit list since they violated the Nuclear Non Proliferation Treaty that, yes, North Korea was a signatory to.

The difference is that for normal people, it would have been a joke to break the tension of having to deal with a difficult situation.

Of course he didn't think it would embarrass the US.
He probably still doesn't think that.
He doesn't have the capacity to admit to himself that he's an embarrassment to the country, and no one around him is willing to tell him either.
If they told him, he would fire them.

Trump isn't talking about sanctions against North Korea.
He is talking about stopping ALL trade with all countries that trade with North Korea.

This is most certainly a Trump thing.

Have you been there through his entire Presidency? I didn't think so. So, you have no idea what was said, what was considered, and what was thrown out. I presented a little dialogue that could have happened. In the dialogue I presented, the idea was floated and thrown out, but Trump's comment was still 100% accurate, though it was never a serious ploy.

You and/or I could be completely wrong about who Trump is. Maybe take the blinders off and consider things outside your tunnel.

More voters need to fucking pay attention and not just deepthroat empty platitudes. That's what needs to happen.

The biggest fundamental problem in America, as I see it, is that we're too focused on consumption, and that idea is pushed and supported by the government. If "We the People" stopped focusing on consuming more than we used to, more than our neighbor, and showed the US Government that we aren't going to fall for a lying politician who promises to give us more stuff, we'd be sooo much better off.

How does your little dialogue change the fact that he tweeted it out?
It doesn't matter if he wasn't seriously considering it... it's a stupid idea.

If he thought that tweeting it would lead to anything but humiliation for himself and the country, he is stupid.
To be honest, I think he probably did it because he knows his stupid fanbase will eat it up... in which case, it is also selfish.

If Trump can be president, it is impossible to take it seriously anymore.
This is cause to revamp the entire electoral system.

WTF how could you possible think that my meaning was that Trump is intentionally embarrassing the country?
How does that even make sense on any level?
I said 'purpose' in response to you claiming its purpose was some sort of negotiation tactic that was so brilliant that even you could immediately see right through it.

The only way I can see it making sense is if Trump is somehow part of a plot to destroy America, just like Obama the Muslim wanted to because he hated America so much? How does that even make sense?

Sorry, no... all of these ridiculous conspiracies are the exclusive property of RWNJs like Dinesh D'Souza.

Trump doesn't want to embarrass America, he just does.
If I were to guess, Putin probably realized that putting him in office would have this result.

Well, yes... but you also have a lot of old people who are completely out of touch with global society voting for someone who is willing to tap into their nostalgia, and young people with grim futures not even bothering to participate.
Throw in the moronic anti-libruls who will support someone like Mitt Romney and then do a 180 and back Trump, the painfully dumb churchgoing folk, the rednecks, racists, gun nuts, conspiracy theorists and RWNJ scumbags... and you have enough stupidity to get Trump where he is today.

The dialogue doesn't change the fact that he tweeted it out. But - and seriously, widen your fucking viewing limits - just because he tweeted it doesn't mean he was serious about it. And, yes, the tweet could have been a negotiating ploy that (one that you can't even comprehend). FYI, you and I completely agree the idea of ending trade with any country that trades with North Korea is a monumentally stupid idea (okay, I added 'monumentally,' but I'm going to hazard a guess that you don't disagree with that modifier).

How? Because that's exactly what you said. Now, you're claiming it was a grammatical error? Did you mean:
It [Trump's comment] serves no purpose except to; it will only embarrass the country and prove once and for all that Americans are stupid enough to have elected a total moron, and some of them are still somehow sure he's great.

If that's what you meant, then that's what you should have written. Your inability to articulate what you mean is no one's fault but your own (but you'll probably blame Trump for that, too).

So much hate. I have a tough time believing you're this fucked up over Trump. Do you even get out of bed?

LOL... arguing with you is annoying, not traumatizing.
What is it with idiots on this site projecting hysteria into the comments of anyone with whom they disagree?

The dialogue doesn't change the fact that he tweeted it out. But - and seriously, widen your fucking viewing limits - just because he tweeted it doesn't mean he was serious about it. And, yes, the tweet could have been a negotiating ploy that (one that you can't even comprehend). FYI, you and I completely agree the idea of ending trade with any country that trades with North Korea is a monumentally stupid idea (okay, I added 'monumentally,' but I'm going to hazard a guess that you don't disagree with that modifier).

You mean the ploy you described earlier? That really wasn't so complicated. If you can understand it, it isn't complicated.
People were projecting brilliant strategies onto Trump's actions months ago... but not so recently, everyone but you figured out that there is a lot less to him than meets the eye.

Good Lord. He could singlehandedly save the lives of every Floridian from Hurricane Irma, and you'd still oppose him. Good fucking, God, man!

Now you're not even responding to what I'm saying.

You really need to chill out. You should have issued your own trigger warning in your OP.

There you go, projecting hysteria again.
I can't even respond to this because there's no substance.

Fucking hell I just told you what I meant and now you're lecturing me about grammar?
You're a class act, fat boy.

LMMFAO!!! Lemme guess, this one's not a "ridiculous" conspiracy, so it's not "exclusive property of RWNJs like Dinesh D'Souza." Am I right?

I didn't say I believed it, I was trying to imagine how you could possibly rationalize your interpretation of my comments to yourself.

In fact, I do get out of bed.
I also exercise.

You should try it some time... you really need it.
It won't help with your face, unfortunately.

But hey... you can be happy that you have excellent grammar.

You're in a snit over Trump. I didn't trigger you. Trump, apparently, did.

Thanks for that compliment. He isn't a complicated man. He has an overinflated ego (which isn't uncommon with politicians and high profile business owners). I still think Hillary would have been worse for the US, though she would have brought more gravitas to the Office.

My error. That comment was misplaced. It wasn't a direct response to the quoted section it followed. It was more a comment taking in your entire approach regarding Trump.

That part was perfectly placed. You're in full melt-down over Trump winning the election.

Class act? Fat boy?!? LMFAO! Pot, meet kettle.

Did I get the intention wrong in my rewriting of what you wrote? I don't think I did.

You said: "all of these ridiculous conspiracies are the exclusive property of RWNJs like Dinesh D'Souza." Then you go on to spout off a conspiracy theory. If "all of these ridiculous conspiracies are the exclusive property to RWNJ's like Dinesh D'Souza," then either you're saying you're a RWNJ like Dinesh D'Souza, or your Putin conspiracy isn't a ridiculous conspiracy (it is a ridiculous conspiracy, btw).

LMFAO!!

Yup. You're triggered. Most of your arguments are now personal attacks. "Brilliant" discussion style!

And, thank you for the grammar compliment.

You get what you give.
There was nothing in your post to respond to.

So what, I was supposed to give a thoughtful, well-rounded response to you insisting I was hysterical, lying about what I meant, and then go on and on about how I didn't use proper grammar or whatever?

How about I agree to practice grammar and be super anal about how I word my ideas, and you go on a diet and get some exercise?
At the very least have mercy on all of us and change your profile pic.

Where did I say you were lying about what you meant? I pointed out what you meant and what you wrote didn't mesh. Is that how I insisted you were lying about what you meant?

You demonstrate quite well how far into hysterics you are over Trump. I'm only pointing it out.

One mention of grammar, and that's going on and on?
