I know it is a BIG stretch, but can we try to get a long a little bit better on here?
Ignoring a lot of mean spiritedness and petty remarks goes a long way around here.

I practice a lot of selective reading and selective responding to posts, that helps me a lot.
There are many that come here to pick fights, and I often just ignore them.
We all know the posters, that are going to criticize us, regardless of what we say.
It is who THEY are, and it is what THEY do.

I admit to not taking the high road at times, but I do take it more often than not lately.
Coming to these boards, sure gives me a lot of opportunities to practice.

So many argumentative and contentious people here, so little time.
So many that want to pick apart what you say, or did not say, it gets crazy.
We all type stupid things here, that we often regret, no one here is perfect.

He who is without sin, let him cast the first stones.
I am going to attempt to say what I have to say, talk to THOSE that can agree to disagree without being nasty, and keep it moving.
Peace

I am giving serious consideration to putting him on hide, seems to be about the only way to put an end to this.

It might be worth it.

Why don't you discuss the thread?

Why don't you? You start what you can't finish, you can't make up your mind about if it's a black/white thing or a trans-gender thing, etc.

All you or tamaka want to talk about is how much black people scare the bejezuss out of you.

She, I can somewhat understand, because sighting of a black person is so rare where she lives.

If you can't deal with the reality in Alabama, move north and leave the rest of us alone. Me, I'm just fine living the state having the largest black population in the country. (East of Alabama.)

AND, I don't have to hear the blacks or whites bitching about all the Chinese or all the S Americans or all the Hindi or Madagascars or Pakistanis.

I feel sorry for your neighbors, all I can say. We in this region have been trying to kick asswipes like you out for decades. Eventually we'll succeed.

You don't belong here, and your kind is not welcome.

Ok since I don't talk about being afraid of blacks, or anyone else for that matter.
I have mentioned that there were a lot of thugs in my area, but
A I didn't say they were all black
or
B That I was afraid of them. You don't seem to understand the difference
between aware and afraid.
The majority of people I get along with in my neighborhood are black so you are just making judgements
based on your fantasies.

Since you have nothing to come to conclusions based on pure fantasies I am putting you on hide.

lastly, a whole police department that "doesn't know what they are fucking talking about"

"San Francisco police grapple with reducing fatal shootings"
I note - with a good deal of mirth - your frantic attempts to try and back up your original stupidity with unrelated articles which demonstrate your lack of knowledge in this area. What you've effectively managed to do is highlight just how unbelievably fucking ignorant you are.

*chortles* "Less lethal weapons" indeed.

Edwird. . . . . .

Bama might have been a little more expansive in his OP comment but otherwise he was consistent with the history of a number of posts we have had on here, protesting as he did the antagonism on this Forum against white police shootings of unarmed and/or mentally ill blacks. You can find one example on Page Two of the Forum entitled: Former St. Louis officer acquitted in killing of black man You have been an occasional visitor to this Forum so you may not have been aware of the on going theme. If Bama had been more expansive in his remarks here I warrant you would have caught on quickly to his complaint about the white kid being shot and very few people engaging in violent protest in the streets one night while the protesting has been very heavy and confrontational for three days in St Louis the past weekend over the death of a black drug dealer, where the cop got off despite the fact there was strong evidence he planted a gun in the dead man's car.

In this case of the Georgia Tech student, three suicide notes were found in his dorm room and his parents confirmed he was mentally ill. I wonder what notification his parents gave to the police. I can see from the video that the police backed away and tried to engage the kid in talk. So, I can't complain too much about the cops actions here. I have said in other threads on the topic that police need training in awareness of mental illness and some protocol for defusing the confrontation without killing the person.

https://www.vox.com/identities/2017/9/19/16332792/georgia-tech-police-shooting-scout-schultz-antifa

People with mental illnesses are more likely to be victims of police shootings

A 2015 report by the Treatment Advocacy Center found that someone with an untreated mental illness is 16 times more likely to be killed by police than other civilians approached or stopped by law enforcement. And according to a Washington Post analysis, mental illness plays a role in at least one-fourth of fatal police shootings.

If people were getting comprehensive care and support, police most likely would not need to get involved in many of the circumstances that end up in horrible tragedies. But very often in the US, that’s not happening.

It is in Georgia. Checking Georgia law, the only definition for "deadly weapon" is contained in the law on Assault & Battery. It defines aggravated assault as attack with a deadly weapon such as a firearm, knife, or explosives. This is a felony crime under Georgia law.

Since the kids was guilty of a felony, threatening with a knife constitutes aggravated assault, deadly force would be authorized in most jurisdictions.

Whether it could have been handled better or not; the officers were not guilty of a crime under Georgia law.

Add in the 21 foot rule and you realize that the officer was most certainly in immanent danger when the knife wielding student failed to put down the knife when ordered and continued approaching.

21 foot rule explained:

If you want to complain aim it at the school that didn't give them options.

Yes, I believe than nobody in the department had any say in how much money the cops got.

The point stands: what was most prominent in his mind regarding the incident, in fact, the only consideration, was clearly expressed in his OP.
