quote:
ORIGINAL: MasterDrakk nothing gets fixed, and it is a baked alaska of shit plan. for the reasons cited. Corporations can (even with their nominal taxes and welfare and record profits) write off what CITIZENS cant. A citizen CAN write off legitimate business expenses. quote:
This doesnt fix the tax code, You and I agree on that. We probably disagree that this is better than what we have now. quote:
doesnt simplify it, We disagree. Under this plan, it should be much easier and simpler to fill out one's tax returns. quote:
doesnt fix revenue, That is something that we'll just have to wait and find out about. quote:
or cut spending. Tax reform legislation rarely has anything to do with spending. That would be separate legislation. Your expectations of what a tax reform bill does may be a bit off there. quote:
Doesn't do anything but give more money to only the richest in america or those fictions that are not people. MJ already pointed out that his Federal income tax liability will be reduced. Is he one of the "richest in [A]merica" or a "fiction that [is] not a people?" quote:
If its based on the thought that cheap throwaway goods are better than those that last but cost more and rather than deal on price and be in a continuous losing for all situation, that goods are based on quality, craftsmanship, and usability.............. but once we let go of the protected economy to mindlessly parrot empty free market phrases, that work nowhere on this earth....then we get to pay taxes, the rich get richer and the poor get poorer. Sadly, even American-made goods, for the most part, are getting more and more expensive and are of worse and worse overall quality. If you can afford top-of-the-line items that carry the best craftsmanship and quality, by all means, do so. But, if you're knocking the less expensive goods that are imported (or even the lower quality American-made goods) simply because they are of lower quality, then you are ignoring that not everyone can afford to purchase top-of-the-line goods. I used to work at a Sears location. Why would someone who needs a 5/16" socket for a one-time use going to spend a couple dollars more for a better quality and lifetime warranty when it's a likely one-time use item? Buy the cheap shit, use it, and don't cry if it gets lost.
