Wait wait. We're busy praying. Because apparently the church they were shot in had a bad signal?

I've said it before and I'll say it again: if we can't talk about gun control, then we have to talk about security measures at schools, churches, sports & music events, movie theaters, etc etc etc.

Which means more guns for the NRA. So that's probably what they're pushing us towards. It fits the GOP fascist agenda anyway.

Not wanting to ignore the Constitution doesn't make you a republican or a Fascist.

As you said, he had the gun illegally. So I don't know what laws could have helped.

LadyPact -> RE: At "least" 27 People killed in Texas church (11/5/2017 5:56:57 PM)

Oh Dear God.

Prayers and condolences for the families. What a horrible thing to happen.

It won't be any thing proposed.
A church in CO found their own solution.
They had members (who volunteered ) take turns being armed guards.
One of them felt that morning she should take hers.
The gunman shot someone in the parking lot and moved on inside.
The member shot him in the lobby protecting the rest of the people.
Do not get me wrong, I don't thing everyone should have been carrying.
Most drivers shouldn't .

At least 27 people have been killed in a Texas church.
Gunman in full combat dress, opens fire in a Sutherland Springs, Texas church this morning.
No words
Daily Mail- Texas gunman shoots at least 27 people in a church

WTF is wrong with people?
Prayers to the victims and family of the victims.

Too many DAMN guns... that's what is wrong... Now we have to hear the usual bull crap from the gun nuts... and the carnage goes on... what idiots!!!
Wait wait...lets hear it... IT'S TOO SOON TO TALK ABOUT GUN CONTROL...how could you.
Butch

That's such an incredibly stupid comment. That implies that because there are guns, people are going to murder other people. That completely ignores the reason why someone would decide to murder someone else.

IMO, if we could figure out why some people decide to kill other people, we'd be so much further ahead than blaming the tool used.

Rumors and speculation all over the place about just who this Devin Patrick Kelley was, and his motivation.

But the gun he used was an AR-15.

I found a report that said he owned a semi-automatic, but nothing that said it was an AR.

WOW--I am not on social media, they post pictures like THAT on social media????
Where are we going?
And why are we in this handbag?

JVoV -> RE: At "least" 27 People killed in Texas church (11/5/2017 7:25:15 PM)

Of course they do. That was on Facebook.

But this is what I was saying. It's getting to the point that we need armed guards at schools, churches, movie theaters, sports & concert venues... Snipers everywhere, constantly on guard.

Is next year's school uniform gonna have to be made out of Kevlar?

Damn, that sort of thing is tolerated and allowed?
No one reports that?

WOW, this world is out of control.
Worse than I thought.

Thank you

Pictures of guns aren't harmful. Hunting is still a sport.

The real problem is seeing something like that on somebody's profile and not directly asking them "boy wtf u gonna do with that?".

kdsub -> RE: At "least" 27 People killed in Texas church (11/5/2017 8:31:41 PM)

Same tired arguments and the killing goes on. You are as much to blame as the insane killers themselves.

So anyone who opposes your gun control agenda deserves the same punishment as the killer.
If the are as guilty they deserve punishment.

This is hard question, and does deserve to be answered. The harder question is why some people are willing to kill people they don't even know...

I actually can get someone killing someone in some domestic dispute, or even some stupid gang turf war, but really to walk into a church and shoot at basically everyone, or shoot at random people at concert like what happened n Vegas...

I don't get people killing random people. I don't think this can or should be accepted.

No, Bama. Not the same punishment. It's just that they're as morally reprehensible as the person who did the shooting. They are deserving only of derision and contempt by the "normal people"; the self-appointed "Guardians of Morality".

I doubt Butch would ever wish death on anyone [:D]

Peace,

Michael

Well, part of the reason is probably because he loved guns a little too much.

The Guardian reports that the weapon was "a Ruger assault rifle" here, and as "an AR-15 semiautomatic weapon" here. For all I know it could be both a Ruger and an AR-15. I'm sure one of our resident gun nuts will be able to clarify this detail.

So sad to have to offer my thoughts and sympathy after another horrible incident like this. I've really run out of words to express my sorrow. When is somebody going to do something to bring these massacres to an end? How many innocent lives are going to be brought to a needless violent death before action is taken to ensure no more repeats?

You don't buy a new sports car and then put it away and not drive it.

Sure, you can always confine yourself to doing donuts in a deserted parking lot somewhere or driving around town at perfectly reasonable speeds, but ultimately you know that its true purpose is something else.

This is what I picture is going on in the minds of mass shooters.
The excuses they give themselves are beside the point-- the thrill comes from using their new toys for their intended purpose.

They allow a lot on Facebook. Animal abuse is allowed there. Waste of time to report it. Not against their standards to habr it. Share to fast posts about animal abuse gets a person banned for a hour to twenty four hours.
