I personally don't find the term "Pocahontas" offensive. While I don't know anything about Native American History.

But most of the world know that name from a Disney Movie, and it was a nice character.

I totally believe Trump just uses that term for the trend of white people who claims they got native American ancestry.

And I believe this phenomenon is due to the bad history of how Europeans came in and stole the land from the natives and basically alot of bad things happened. Natives were slaughtered. It's one way to distance themselves from that, by saying, "I got native American blood in me too!" So they can be on the camp victim and not camp aggressor.

Even the super liberal Trevor Noah says, Trump calling Elizabeth "Pocahontas" is not racist.

Because according to genealogy records, there is zero evidence that Elizabeth is even the Native American she claims to be.

So for her to falsify being a Native American to get priority in Harvard is like..., not good of her.

And Trump calling her Pocahontas is using as a word for White Americans claiming to be Native Americans when the evidence is extremely..... questionable.

I can't see how this is insulting to Native Americans.

If she is a real native American and referred to as Pocahontas. How can that be an insult?

And if she is a false native American referred to Pocahontas because of her claim of being Native American. That's just mocking her pretending to be Native American. Not an insult to Native Americans.

When Pocahontas is a well loved Disney native american disney character, what that name is most famous for.

You claim you don't know anything about Native American history. Than why speak about the topic? Please learn about Native American history before talking about them. It doesn't matter what YOU feel about the term and how they felt by Trump's comments. You don't get to project their feelings. It's not always necessary to a say on every topic. Sometimes, just reading and listening is also helpful.

It was a verbal attack using a racially-linked name, to demonize her claimed racial ancestry.

Actual Native Americans are complaining about the use of the name.

There's a fascinating show on PBS called Finding Your Roots, which does genealogy and DNA matching to give celebrities as much detail as possible about their family history and just where they come from. Many of the guests have either been told very little, or have been told family lore that proves to be inaccurate, or at least not totally accurate.

Senator Warren had a self-identity about her racial background based upon family stories. I haven't seen any DNA test to show that she isn't Native American in some part. It would be interesting if she were to do that show.

For years, I've been guesstimating that I am 25% Cherokee because my grandmother was full-blooded. No "evil intent" there since my grandmother was, indeed a native. I recently did a DNA test with one of these companies that advertise on TV. In truth, more than 25% of my DNA comes from native ancestry. So, my guesstimation being lower than the actual number truly does negate any factual discrepancy.

The trouble is: I believe "Fuaxcahontas" got found out because inquiring minds were able to trace her family history quite a few generations and came up with no native relatives. I'm almost positive that's how her lie was exposed.

As far as self-identifying? I, now, self-identify as the King of Northeastern Pennsyltucky and I expect you all to identify me as such. Preposterous, right?

"self-identify" is a bullshit phrase like: "clean coal".

I just assume Genealogy investigation includes DNA test.

But if none has been done, this is worst, because Elizabeth could shut everyone up by a simple DNA test. Like Obama show his birth certificate. Elizabeth obviously is guilty.

You can see in the video, she is nearly crying from being called Pocahontas because she knows she is a fraud. Otherwise, wear the name proud!

The real person insulting Native Americans is when a white person pretends to be Native American.

To me, the only way to verify genealogy is a DNA test. How else are you suppose to know your bloodlines? So if a genealogy society says she has no native american in her. I have to assume they have done a DNA.
