More importantly, what's written on paper, or passed down through the family lore isn't always factual. This is especially true when dealing with minorities. And DNA isn't a true gauge either. DNA tests can give us either our paternal line through the men, or maternal line through the women. So a DNA test would show your father's father's father's father's father's father's father's father's etc etc father, or your mother's mother's mother's etc etc mother. This does not disprove a female relation on your father's side or a male relation on your mother's side. If possible , then DNA from your maternal grandfather and your paternal grandmother would bridge a bit of that gap. In other words, there is damn near no possible way to discredit anyone's word for their racial identity. And this is coming from the dumb bastard that started the birther movement. Somebody needs to pull the plug on his phone, microphones, and other communication outlets.
