I am not sure what compelled me to ask this. But- I am wondering, just the same. If you Dominants and Masters (or Dommes and Mistresses) don't have one to call your own, then maybe just answer in general. I really am curious. Any particular circumstances, or  things they do, perhaps, come to mind that make you feel she/he needs to be protected, more than others?

1) When they are feeling vulnerable (in a negative way).
2) When they are showing vulnerability to me.
3) When they are feeling scared.
4) When someone has hurt them in some way.
5) When someone is threatening to hurt them in some way.

Thanks very much for the reply, Master Fire Ma'am.
*Do any specific examples come to mind?

Pretty much a ditto for me and my partners.

I think that's pretty universal though- to become protective over that which we cherish.  It's important however to separate FEELING protective with actually DOING something about it, as well as to separate feeling protective vs feeling possessive OR defensive.

Always glad to run my mouth. ;-)

In actuality, if the need ever arose, I think girl and I would end up in a fight about who would protect whom. she identifies as a Shield Maiden, and so she sees herself as the first line of defense. But as a Warrior Priestess, I see it as my repsonsibility to ward off attack, so to speak. In the end, I think it will be a trade for her and I.

Posessive vs. protective. Yes, good point, LA. One (in my mind) is evoked, maybe more by jealously, rather than a straight concern for a submssive's welfare (although it might depend on the circumstances).

Master Fire Ma'am: I can get pretty protective of people I love, too, so I think I know where she may be coming  from.

Hey Susan... and all gentle readers....

I think part of the implicit contract of D/s
requires a real level of "protection"
that goes with the leadership/dom/ownership thing...

So ... "feeling" protective.... yeah, a lot.

BUT, because I'm cursed with striving
and over-trying..... over-everything-ing...
... over-protection is also an issue.

It's really easy to "infantalize" another person,
especially one who relies on you profoundly in a D/s way.
And a sacharine schmaltzy "protection"
can weaken your lover every bit as much as it can keep her safe.

So, often I have to "stick a sock in it" to prevent over-protection too...

I protect in reality less often than I "feel" like doing it.

Good point, Doctor D. I am sure some submissives occasionally might feel their Dominant can "over-do it".

Hi Susan.. I was thinking about this and 2 of my doms comes to mind. Jake is very protective of my girls. So he protects us all when any of are threatened in any way at all. As for Roy... he is concidered the "Other parental unit" by my girls... and so he feels the need to be more protective of us all ..... all the time. When something happens and he's not around.. he expects a call..... so he can decide if it warrents him coming over to visually see that all is ok. Unless I can convince him things are fine. Then sometimes he still pops up to make sure. But for most part... both know I can handle things on my own. So they both want to make sure I'm handling things on a personal level.

We all know they can't be here always to protect us from everything. But they do try.. so I give them both an E for efforts. And it makes everyone feel better.

When she strives to put herself beyond the very farthest bondaries, in an attempt to be more than she now is.

A little off the topic, but not far.

Leaving a club late one night, Master and I were robbed at gun point. Master literally put himself between me and the guy with a gun. He had a gun stuck between his eyes and his first thought was to protect me. It still blows my mind.

Well, I'm licensed to carry concealed so that part is covered.
But I consider housing, food, clothing to be "protection" too.
And if she's not feeling well and just needs to be "held" that's my job as well.
My former sub would have bad "times of the month" and would be in bed for one day each month so I'd bring her in hot tea with fresh lemmon and honey and for lunch or dinner a bowl of soup.
So if a sub or slave is sick it's the Dom's job to take care of her then too.
Funny, just got in from the pool. I was talking to a neighbor lady from N.Y. and she said she was up to the bank and next door at a burger joint there was a big fight between two guys and two ladies!
She said she walked into the drugstore next door and told this lady that we know about it and asked her; "Shouldn't someone call the Police?"
The lady (Deanna) looked at her, laughed and said; "Girl, you ain't in NYC no more, you're in REDNECK country now!" lolol

Oside, that sucks.
I always tell whoever I'm with if we go out somewhere, day or night and we have a situation like that to stand "behind me and on my left hand side" so I know where they are.

I always feel protective of him, he's the love of my life and my most prized possession. I don't make him live life in a guilded cage, but I can worry and say PLEASE be careful ten times a day.

There are only two times when I believe it is necessary to act upon my responsibility as owner of beth and protect her; when she is awake and when she is sleeping.

I think submissives, actually are very protective of their Dominants.  Ive seen plenty of them take a bite out of someone like a mad dog for saying something negative about their Master.

Oside, that sucks.

Tell me about it. I thought I was going to be a widow. I had nightmares for months (sometimes still do).

Mercnbeth: Ya know, lately, everytime I read one of your posts, I ende up saying to myself: That's the kind of relationship I want someday. Really. You two are so sweet and smart.
