I have to admit the idea of someone fending off an attacker (if t's ever likely to happen, which it may not be) is something I do find extremely attractive.

I reallly appreciated what amayos had to say about keeping someone's mind in good working order re: the D/s or M/s relationship, or in general, by helping them to ward off doubts, fears, emotional upheaval, or even (if necessary) relationship detractors because, given the rare instances of physical attack that may be likely (although I realize it's been known to happen), this is probably most important.

Killing spiders, snakes, etc. (to me) is optional for me (depends on the size of the creepy thing I guess, but they don't paricularly scare me anyway. I was, for a time, a Zoology major in college).

This is indeed the biggest threat, isn't it - to allow a cancerous thought to enter,   The desctruction from there can be great if not immediately handled.

Better that she realize her self interests enough to dismiss the thought as invalid immediately. Owners cannot monitor everything that enters a servant's mind on a continual basis.

No, we cannot possibly do that, but it is wise to guide and teach as much as it is within our power. While I feel quite secure allowing any of my girls to interact with and overcome those who possess adverse philosophy, that is not to say I would have them swimming in it constantly. Intellectual sparring is one thing, exposure to those who knowingly and cunningly attempt to subvert is quite another.

That was my point as well.  I mentioned cancerous thoughts; I did not mention it is up to him to monitor in such a way to always keep me clear of them (although he pretty much knows all key thoughts in my mind).  My first post actually spoke of his teaching me to protect myself.  There are times, however, particularly in the beginnings of a Master/slave relationship, when such cancers can seep in and wreak havok if the Master is not paying attention.
